Help! My settings to create links have changed!

Hi there, it is still not working. I have lost the ability to create a new blank page. It only allows me to link to pre-existing pages.

hi pbjane- when you go to the link button, choose wiki page, and then in the next box, the first option should be "new page." Is this not appearing for you?

yes that works but when I make this the new page( after giving it a new name and writing something on the new page and saving it) and click on the link it takes me back to the page where you choose the name and create a new page. I could link to a new page just fine yesterday (and the entire time I have been using wiki), today it is not working.

I'm able to do this just fine on my wiki. Can you tell me what Internet browser and version you are using?

They rolled out a new release of the software in the last 24 hours, so things have changed. Both the globe icon and the 'Insert a link to a new page' link do the same thing:



If you select '--New Page--', you can enter a new page name in the edit box below. When you click 'OK', they create the link, but do not create the page. Just create the link, save the page, then click the link, and it will take you to the 'Create new page' dialog. I never use this feature, so I can't say if that's different from how it worked before, but it seems to work consistently now.

I am using the newest Safari internet explorer.

Jane, after you create the new page, type a bit, and save, did you click the "back" button on your browser?

I am using Safari for the internet.
Thanks for your reply Guy, I have the box above but when I select new page no box to create the page name appears. ( just link type and page appears)

Interesting. Here's what it looks like in Safari for Windows:

I do see a problem, though. When I click 'OK' (in Safari for Windows), nothing happens. No link is inserted in the page. It works fine in FF.

Hi Jane- wow, thanks for the video! It looks like a browser issue and I have our crack team of engineers looking into this right now.

Yes, I am using Safari 3.0.4

Hi PBJane - it looks like the most recent version of Safari is 3.1.1. While we'd love to get this working for all browser versions your best option right now is to upgrade your browser.

Wow, that's harsh. I'd hate to be one of the thousands of educational or corporate PBwiki users who use computers that belong to their school or employer, and don't have the luxury to just "upgrade your browser".

Unfortunately I am one of them. I will need to get the school to upgrade all the computers before my students can continue working on their wiki's!

pbjane, I apologize for the inconvenience. We'll work on getting this resolved as soon as possible for your current browser. In the meantime, try talking to your school's IT person - they may want to upgrade. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

Rachel, I'm running Safari 3.1.1 for Windows, so upgrading is not an option.
