I am the administrator for a wiki and I want to keep the wiki private. How do I prevent participants (students in my class) from changing the settings to public??

Inappropriate?hi, i am administrator at my private wiki site and I am pretty sure only the administrator has access to the settings page on the wiki. therefore they should never be able to get to the page that can make your wiki public. To see if this is correct you could check the site on one of your students pcs when they are logged in.

Inappropriate?I have a wiki for my fifth grade and also believe that the admin functions are excluded. I take it you bought the "better" package. That's what I di to have an "open" wiki that was still restricted to contribution by certain "members."
Are you using one password for the students to write contributions? One or more students could share that password inappropriately without you knowing who shared the info. Although we use that system now, I plan to either give each student a separate password with an e-mail address that they can't use OR see how v2 rolls out.
When the kids have to use an individual password I understand that I know who signed in and what changes they made without depending on an honest input when the sign in. (v1.x)

Inappropriate? As a test, I added on an account for my wife and she had full access to the settings page. And it didn't seem like there was anything I could do about it. No, I am using the free version. I am poor and have no money for the project that I am running.

Inappropriate?Free wikis have no security for the admin functions. You must pay to keep people out of the 'Settings'.
