HTML Link to a shared drive using FireFox
I am trying to place a link on a Wiki page that points to a file on a shared folder. My source looks like this:
W:\ops\DEM\EMAS
This only seems to work for people that use IE. We have a lot of people using Firefox. Do you know how to do this so people using Firefox can click on the link and make it work?

Inappropriate?Hi Lauren,
I've tried doing that myself and I've never had any luck getting it to work. Maybe some of our more experience users have an idea about the best way to handle links to a local server.
As a work-around, you may want to try either uploading it to PBwiki, or using a file sharing website to share the file.
A friend of mine just submitted a list of good file sharing services. I've got it posted in my wiki.

Thanks for asking.

Inappropriate?I only have access to IE, so don't know if this will work in Firefox, or even if it's what you mean, but if I want to link to a mapped drive, I can't link to, say,
s:\dept\folder
but I can link to
\\staff\shared\dept\folder
In the Insert Link dialogue box I select Link Type = URL, Protocol = other and enter in the URL box I write file://staff/shared/dept/folder and it works.
Like I said, not tried this in anything other than IE, but it might be another option...
