Leaving Edit Mode on for a long time - locked or unlocked?
If I am in edit mode, but leave my desk for a couple of hours, are other people locked from editing the page?
I hope not, since I have been called into meetings and hope others are not locked out from editing.

Yes, others will be locked out. However, they will be given a prompt to "Steal" your edit lock. All they will have to do is click a link and verify.
It shouldn't be a big burden on them.

Inappropriate?If you've left your computer on for a long time, be aware to click "cancel" rather than "save" on the edit screen when you come back, because any changes made by others who stole the lock in the meantime will be gone. You'll still be able to retrieve them by going into the page's revision history, but I'd personally try to avoid that if possible.
