search
I like to be able to search the content of attached files (*.doc, *.pdf, *.txt, *.tex etc) for a word. PBwiki has an editor search of its pages. Can the functionality be extended? How can I put a search engine like Google desktop search on my wiki?

Inappropriate?Actually, that may be in out plans for the future.
For now, your best bet is to download and copy of all the files on your wiki to a folder on your hard drive. Once you have them, you can easily search them there using whatever tools you wish.
If you subscribe to email notifications, you will always receive a notice when someone uploads a new file to your wiki. -
Inappropriate?Woah - that sounds complicated!
PBwiki search is going to be greatly improved in the next release (we're calling it PBwiki 2.0). While it won't yet search all the content in .doc, .pdf files - that is something that we're researching and think would be incredibly valuable in the future.
In the next release expect to see far better prediction search and a clean presentation of search results.

I’m not a fan of duplicate files on my hard drive
