Why didn't I have to log in to my wiki the last time I visited it?
It is a private wiki, and I want to make sure that it is secure!

Inappropriate? We place a "cookie" on your computer that tells us who you are and what wikis you can access. This allows you to enter a wiki without having to log into it. The use of cookies is common practice on the Internet; if you have ever visited a Web site, chances are you have their cookie on your computer.
The login cookie does have one draw-back. Anyone using your computer could automatically be logged into all of your wikis.
To prevent this from happening, log out of your PBwiki Account, and any individual wikis where you have invite key access. To log out of your PBwiki Account, click the "Log out" link in the upper right corner of the page, right next to your email address (if you can't see this, you're already logged out).
This is another good reason for using PBwiki Accounts to control access to your wiki rather than invite keys--you won't have to log out of all your individual wikis!

Inappropriate? Thanks for the info. But is there a way to "force" a log in each time the site is visited? My scenario is my 25 third graders all in the computer lab accessing their wiki pages, but not necessarily using the same PC that they used two days ago. Many are logging directly in (because of the cookies) and the wiki software thinks that they are a different student. (whichever student logged in properly last time) We've been trying to get in the habit of logging out, then logging back in to make sure... but third graders have lots on their minds.
thanks for any info! -
Inappropriate? If you are using Firefox, it is possible to set your cookies to be deleted when the browser is closed. To do this, click on 'Tools' on the menu bar, select 'Options', click on the 'Privacy' tab. In the cookies section, of that tab, there's a drop down labled 'Keep until'. If you change that to 'I close Firefox' and press OK, your cookies will be cleared when the browser closes.
