I just tested this by having the system email me a 'forgot password' email. I then reset it to a password that used @ and it worked.

Another interesting thing happened, it stopped calling me cookie up top.

It may be that this only happens when you are first creating an account and converting it from an 'anonymous' account to a named account. That is when I saw the error.

@ and ! are two characters I usually use. But I think you should allow all the characters on the keyboard:

`~!@#$%^&*()-_+={}|[]\:";'<>?,./*.

I think satisfaction should allow special characters in the passwords or at least tell people that special characters are not allowed.

Most of my passwords have special characters and the system just tells me that the passwords do not match - when they do.

special characters - good
unhelpful error messages - bad

Thanks Joe, I had this same problem and as I typed in the problem description - this thread came up.

This solved my problem. GetSatisfaction rocks. I especially like the way it remembered what I was typing even though I switched from 'ask a question' to 'report a problem'
