A comment on the idea "Show a map of stores" in Grocio:
Let me put it this way, I used to shop at Albertsons. But, without changing stores, I now seem to shop at Food Pyramid and Reasor's. Of course, I'm not exactly clear on if I might be shopping at Food Pyramid Express or Reasor's Foods or Reasor's Food Stores or Reasor's Food Store's or Reasor's Food Warehouse just plain old Reasor's.
Since knowing this is a prerequisite to checking the location of the store, I'm inclined to say that I know my favorite stores' locations better than I know their names.
It's great to hear that it's being worked on. – josephholsten, on August 05, 2009 18:56

Show a map of storesI don't actually know the names of most of the grocery stores I like to shop at, but I do know how to get to them. I would have a much easier time finding my favorite grocery store if it was on a map.
Additionally, you aren't going to have users checking out other stores just because Grocio has their details hidden in some list. If you show stores on a map, people will be notice that the little family-owned, hole-in-the-wall market that they always just drove past. Grocio shouldn't just be about choosing the lesser of two evils. It should be about discovering the best.

I'd recommend going with a google-suggest type solution populate a list-select, selecting 20 which match in order of popularity, and displaying item sorted by alphanum.
I had been working on a similar food picker which was based on publicly available USDA nutrition information, and found this worked pretty well.
You'll find that usage information makes thinks quite a bit easier to use for most people, but the google-suggest allows people to play around and see if alternatives seem worthwhile.-

Duplicate storesGrocio is showing more that one store with the exact same location.
I'm not sure what the best way to deal with this is. Will I me missing some info if I don't select one of them? Will I get bad info if I select all of them?
Also, there should be a way to recommend you merge two stores.
Examples around tulsa: Aldis have 4-5 instances, Reasors have two
josephholsten replied on March 17, 2009 17:52 to the question "Status of GrandCentral?" in Grand Central:
Since this is a top search result for “GrandCentral Status,” I should mention that GrandCentral is now Google Voice. It’s been updated and looks pretty nice, but at least some existing GrandCentral customers are still waiting for an upgrade ticket.
If you’ve got more questions, check the Google Voice home page, look for info in the support forum, or head over to the new Get Satisfaction page for it.

Show wish lists in birthday remindersIt would be really nice if there was better support for wishlists. Especially with support for ones other than amazon, eg boxedup, wishlisting, wishpot, and wishlistr.
While you're at it, why not link to a user's wish list in a birthday reminder?

It's possible, but unlikely. The facebook app was developed by ma.gnolia, so there probably isn't any cache he can pull out of. – josephholsten, on February 06, 2009 23:00

If your username on magnolia was pigsonthewing, then there are bookmarks available now. If not, you might try giving it a bit longer. It took quite a while for my account. – josephholsten, on February 06, 2009 00:54-
