You don't actually have to disable Firebug, but follow Google's instructions, so you can still use Firebug!

It was FIREBUG. That was it, the notice in my Gmail a few days ago clued me in. Thanks Ted, and everyone else.

I don't recall Gmail being this slow previously. But in recent months the application has gotten slow. Very slow. Slow to open emails. Slow to redraw the Inbox. etc.
