Any plans to make a voting iPhone app?I think an iPhone app would be a really neat way for users to interact with Poll Everywhere.-

Clicking away from the Pictures folder fixed this instantly.
Holy cow, clicking off of Aperture in the photos menu (onto iPhoto instead, which has hardly anything) makes the performance of Skitch bearable again! It's still chugging along with a ton of CPU usage, but at least it's usable again.
Thank you Jaymis! Plasq: any ideas about when this might be fixed?

Keith's reply to "Skitch is really slow and using 98-99 under CPU in Activity Monitor" was just promoted to the most useful! chucksense and 4 other people think it's one of the best replies.
hi Chuck, sorry we managed to overlook your note here. :-(
Perhaps try re-downloading Skitch.app and deleting any copies of Skitch you have on your system (sometimes they can hang around the downloads folder, etc).
If that doesn't work, it could be a corrupted preferences file.
1. Quit skitch
2. Find the the file "com.plasq.skitch.plist" in your user account>Library>Preferences and compress it by right-clicking and choosing compress from the menu, This way you'll always have a copy.
3. Now, delete the original and try re-launching Skitch. You'll need to re-enter your Skitch account details so be sure to have them handy.
Hope that helps!

More now that I have a little more time...
Always (or often)
- Use CMD-Shift-5 to capture (then either use selection or click window)
- Use arrows and boxes
- Use "Add shadow..." (as mentioned above)
- Either use Webpost (to my own domain), drag to finder, or drag to Word
- Use the "Copy Link" button after Web posting (Best... Feature... EVER!)
- Use the PNG format
- If Skitching a photo, use the Photos button as it's WAY faster than firing up Aperture
Never
- Use the "snap" button
- Use the Circle tool
- Use Mail this Image, Send to Bluetooth, Print, Re-Snap, Frame snapshot, Flip, or Rotate
- Webpost to flickr, skitch.com, or anywhere else except my own domain
- Have Skitch in my Dock
Cheers,
-Chuck
chucksense reported a problem in plasq on October 16, 2008 17:41:
Skitch is really slow and using 98-99 under CPU in Activity MonitorFor the last few days, Skitch has become "impossible-to-use" slow. It is using 98-99 under the CPU column in Activity monitor. I've tried restarting my computer a few times, no dice.
Running:
Skitch 1.0b7 (v77)
MacBook Pro / MacOSX 10.5.5
The slowness occurs from the very start of Skitch--I've had to disable loading it on login because it was slowing my machine way down. It makes taking snaps painful, all animations of Skitch appearing and disappearing are now taking nearly a minute, and it's affecting the overall performance of my machine.
The strange thing is that I upgrade to this latest version when it came out (I think a couple of weeks ago now?), yet the problem only appeared in the last couple of days.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
-Chuck
