Hi there,
There's a second link on the download page for a 10.4 compatible version of rescuetime. You can get it here:

Brian Fioca replied on September 15, 2009 22:24 to the question "Why does data collector eat up memory on 10.6?" in RescueTime:
We’ve built a new version of RescueTime that is optimized for (and doesn’t crash or leak memory all over the place like the one that’s up on the download page right now) OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
There's a blog post and a link to it here:
http://blog.rescuetime.com/2009/08/29...
We should have the OS X 10.6 version up as the standard download on the site in the next day or so.

Hi - I've run a few experiments on my MacBook Pro and I couldn't get consistent results. Could you email me at brian@rescuetime.com with your system specs and which version of Safari you're using? Thanks
Brian Fioca replied on July 27, 2009 15:50 to the problem "Crashing from segmentation fault" in RescueTime:
This can happen when RescueTime can't properly find its directory in your Home directory. There are a few causes for why this happens, but I'm going to try to make this more fault tolerant in the next version.
For now, you can fix this by deleting the RescueTime.com directory in your Home -> Library directory, and then restarting and reinstalling RescueTime.
Sorry for the inconvenience - we'll get this worked out soon.

I've done some more experimentation and at least narrowed down the problem. My hope is the latest version should fix this issue.
You can go download it here:

Let me know how it works.

If anyone is still having this problem, I've come up with a way to help us pinpoint the source of the bug.
If you're feeling extra helpful, you could really help me narrow this down further by trying the following things:
First, run this version and see if it crashes:
http://www.rescuetime.com/installers/...
If it doesn't, one of these two should.
http://www.rescuetime.com/installers/...
http://www.rescuetime.com/installers/...
If none of them do, well, that's bad news because it means I'm not really any closer to solving this mystery. But if one of them does, it'll tell me where exactly to look, and I think I can completely fix the bug.
The more people with the crashing problem that can help with this the better; it's such a random issue that it'd be great to have lots of data on what's broken.
Brian Fioca replied on June 17, 2009 21:04 to the problem "data collector not responding on osx" in RescueTime:
Yikes. :(
We keep seeing these problems pop up occasionally but we're having a really hard time tracking down the cause, since we can't make it happen here.
It would be really great if you could help us narrow this down some more by downloading a test version and letting us know if it has the same problem. You can get it here:
http://www.rescuetime.com/installers/...
It doesn't log any time, it just will help us know where the problem is if it crashes or not.
Please let me know if that version crashes.
Thanks a lot!

Ok, here's the latest stab at the crash problem. (fingers crossed - I hope this works)

Version 2.0.0 (2.0.0.989)
Brian Fioca replied on June 09, 2009 17:28 to the question "Rescuetime WONT even launch!" in RescueTime:
Could you all check to see if you're using RescueTime build 2.0.0.973?
Go to the Preferences window and look at the bottom left corner. If not, get the new version here: http://www.rescuetime.com/download
If so, please let me know... I really thought we had this fixed this time.

Hi, sorry about that... we don't know why this happens to some people and not others yet, but we're trying our best to fix it.
Could you try again with this newer version and let me know if it works?

We just pushed out a new version that should solve some compatibility issues (including better support for OS X 10.4 and PowerPC macs). You can download it from the download page here:

Hmm, what version of OS X are you running? PowerPC or Intel? That is a really unusual error.. in the mean time, you can still download the old one at http://www.rescuetime.com/installers/...

Oops, sorry about that. Did it actually work on that computer at one point (the new version)? If so, it'll be easier for me to figure out what I broke. :) – Brian Fioca, on April 08, 2009 16:34
