Its for the original ppt/pdf file. But I can understand the confusion!

If you cannot download SlideShare files, why is there a Download button? That's idiotic.

Unfortunately, you cannot download SlideShare files. One thing you can do is to go through the whole presentation in full screen form and cache it for later viewing (this sometimes works, sometimes it does not).
