Matt Jones set one of Matt Jones' replies as an official response to "Raumzeitgeist cropped?! Why?" in Dopplr
Matt Jones replied on January 12, 2009 18:28 to the question "Raumzeitgeist cropped?! Why?" in Dopplr:
Hi there. The Raumzeitgeist image is dynamically-cropped for each user to try and balance the view of the globe with the cities you've visited.
When we were designing it, we wanted an end result that gave a balance of the global and the personal and would work for most users, no matter how spread out their destinations were.
We're always considering new visualisations for your data, so any suggestions you have are very welcome.
Matt Jones shared an idea in Huffduffer on October 21, 2008 15:03:
I'd like Huffduffer to talk to my last.fm accountWould it be possible for things I play on Huffduffer to be scrobbled to last.fm? I guess if I listened to them as a podcast produced by huffduffer then they would get scrobbled by my mediaplayer (iTunes) but it would be nice to have a more direct activity stream from the service piped in there perhaps??

Hi Jan - we've been working on ways to make our FB integration better, and this idea is certainly one we're working on.
It requires that we make some changes on the Dopplr end to maintain the degree of control over your private information that we want you to have, while giving visitors from FB a good experience. Look for this to be rolled out before the end of the year
Thanks for using Dopplr, and safe travels.-

Matt Jones replied on August 05, 2008 13:24 to the question "What's the best way to switch the home city?" in Dopplr:
Hi James - on the whole, we'd recommend that you don't change your home city on Dopplr unless it's an 'open-ended' arrangement - i.e. you're not certain of the date it will change again.
In your case we'd recommend that you put you time in France as a long trip, as you said you did originally (with the approximate return date) and then add your other trips from your base in France as normal.
On Dopplr, a trip that happens to be enclosed in another trip is implicitly from where you happen to be at the time, so we should do the right thing, both in terms of coincidences and carbon calculation.
We're planning some extra functionality around moving home shortly, and we'll aim to be clear about this in the interface in future. Sorry for any confusion we've caused.

Admittedly, our first version of http://m.dopplr.com is simple and a little limited. We already have some ideas for v2.0, but what would you like to see included to really get the most out of Dopplr on your mobile?

Matt Jones replied on June 05, 2008 23:33 to the idea "TripIt is much easier than Dopplr" in Dopplr:
Hello - we agree TripIt do a great job of handling your travel confirmations once you've booked. We also agree that entering stuff by hand is not great. Look! I'm doing it now! It's horrible!
Dopplr is about your future, and if you're trying to optimise your travel plans BEFORE you book stuff, we need to get the information from other places, including plain old human intervention.
We try to make that as painless as possible in the UI, so if you have any specific ideas or criticism about that, that would be great.
BUT!
We're working on a bunch of ways to get your information into Dopplr easily.
First up we've got some great ways to get the information into Dopplr from your calendaring software - like Google Calendar and Apple iCal.
You can also use SMS to create trips (http://www.dopplr.com/main/faq#05-02), and we're working on a few new interesting things that we think will make it a lot easier to enter your trips in the next couple of months. Stay tuned!

What sorts of comparison would best help you evaluate your carbon figures on Dopplr? What would serve as a good comparison for evaluating your carbon?
At the moment Dopplr shows you the raw figures, but we realise without independent research it's tricky to know what that means.
We're chatting with the good folk at http://www.amee.cc who power our calculator about this, but wanted to open up the discussion here...
BTW - a while back I asked what the carbon footprint of freezing Han Solo in Carbonite would be (http://tinyurl.com/6mac24), but I figure we might run into some trouble if we used "Solos" as a unit of comparison... ;-)
