Can you see if I got flagged as spam? Username 'hawaii'. Posting photos via e-mail from my iPhone (via Gmail) worked fine until today. Now all posts reliably generate a response from my secret@bkite.com address that says: "We cannot process your request at this time. Please try again later, or visit brightkite.com"

Thank you for taking this step, is there anything we can do to encourage Amazon to support monospace fonts, I have noticed this is a real problem with more technical material? – mdcfrancis, on July 01, 2008 22:55

Kee, somehow your posts were getting caught in our spam filter. You should be good to go now. Sorry about that. – Lesley, on June 26, 2008 22:43

It is definitely not user error. I'm emailing using the same address book entry. Mail from nazgul@somewhere.com on my Mac sends a picture to Brightkite. Mail from nazgul@somewhere.com on my iPhone (same server, same mail settings) never shows up--ever.
Furthermore, I'm using the same mail server. Here are the two entries:
This one, from my Mac, got through.
16:16:43.08 2 SMTP-94796(bkite.com) [3214534] sent to [64.233.167.27], got:250 2.0.0 OK 1214515186 f57si1307463pyh.38
16:16:43.08 2 DEQUEUER [3214534] SMTP(@66.221.67.247:bkite.com)XXXX@bkite.com relayed
This one, from my iPhone, did not.
16:28:12.08 2 SMTP-94802(bkite.com) [3214551] sent to [64.233.167.114], got:250 2.0.0 OK 1214515875 n45si259498pyh.29
16:28:12.08 2 DEQUEUER [3214551] SMTP(@66.221.67.247:bkite.com)XXXXX@bkite.com relayed
So apparently your server either doesn't like the attachment from the iPhone, or it has a problem with mail originating on AT&T wireless networks.

A comment on the idea "Attach Privacy Level to Location" in Brightkite:
Evolver, one thing you will be able to do that will give you a similar result is if you make your home address private, you can modify your privacy settings so that your checkins in Private mode are hidden to Twitter. So if you're out and about and posting in Public mode, everyone can see your locations, but as soon as you checkin at home (which you have set to Private) it will not show this checkin to Twitter. I realize that isn't quite the same as the feature you are describing, but I hope it helps. – Lesley, on June 16, 2008 18:59

I have a slightly different variation of this. While I don't mind anyone knowing my home address (since I live in a large building that shares the same street address with retail and restaurants), I'd prefer not to have it pushed to Twitter every time I religiously check back in for the night. It's more of a redundancy thing that anything else. I like to let people know when I'm out somewhere, but it's boring and almost depressing generated a tweet that I'm home. I'd feel the same way if a "Home" placemark showed up instead. The same would be true if I went to an office every day; I don't think it would be newsworthy that I'm at work. So while I like the option to have public/private placemarks, I'd also love to choose whether to feed Twitter (and other services that may be offered in the future) based on each placemark.

Looks nice. I've been leaving comments for people, but they seemed to just sit there.
Hooray for making them more prominent- and I'd love to see that trend continue, e.g. by making them drop down from the original post without loading a new page.
Keep up the good work, guys. It's fun to see the progress.
