Update to this as things have changed, currently we're asking people to join hub.metblogs.com and create a group for the city they are looking to form, then ask their friends to join the group as well. We'll be launching new cities based on interest and activity stemming from these groups. Thanks!-

Followed the link to this one thanks to Erica. This isn't exactly what I was suggesting on Twitter but it's a good idea as well. What I was hopping for is something where a group of people are getting together and getting food, drinks, etc.. or hanging out over longer periods of time. You could say "group USERNAME" and then anywhere that person checked in you would auto check in as well. This could work for groups easily for anyone "grouping" with any member of the group.
A comment on the question "How do I become a contributor to San Jose's Metblog?" in Metroblogging:
I think you are confusing us with someone else, as none of that is accurate at all. – seanbonner, on May 27, 2008 15:24

Not sure who "one with the gun" is but we don't advertise on craigslist and all authors are volunteer (so i have no idea where that $35 a month thing is coming from). That said, if you want to contribute in San Jose definitely the best thing to do is post in the comments on the blog and let the authors know you are interested and they are the ones who can get you up and running.

seanbonner asked a question in Brightkite on May 01, 2008 17:38:
Naming locationsHow do I name a location? And is it possible to correct the name of a location if someone else created it wrong? I'm not taking about placemarks as much as the actual business name of a location. I'd love to be able to do this in the initial check in SMS.

I think you are missing my point, we don't think prison rape is funny we think the movie Office Space is funny. It was written and directed by Mike Judge, who is a very funny guy. He wrote Beavis and Butthead too, which we also think is funny. If you haven't seen the movie you should watch it, you will laugh. Anyway, we're referencing a movie, not making fun of prison rape. I've seen Office Space about 15 times and I don't remember the line "do some time staring at a one-piece, no-clog toilet in a solitary prison cell" from the movie anywhere.

Hey Blackearth, that's not us being assholes, it's actually a nerd joke referencing the movie Office Space. Check these for more info:

Could you please give users the option to turn off "Tips"?They are massively annoying, mostly useless, and rather confusing. I'd really like to not see them, as well as not subject people who are following me to them.

Right now I use a datadump day pack and a chrome small messenger bag as my main travel bags, and can fit most anything in both of them and they work really well for security. I am looking for a slightly larger, hard shell wheeled case that I could put one or both of those bags in but haven't found anything.
I love the laptop section on the daypack - only thing that would make it better would be if the two front pockets didn't eat up inside storage room.
