A comment on the idea "Remove items from Vault" in Gowalla:
For me, it's less an OCD thing and more how I play the game. If I find, say, a #200 Koi Fish, vault it, then later find a #90 Koi Fish, I no longer want to keep the #200. I can drop it to entice other people to come visit a spot (one I create or otherwise), or I can trade with someone else who either has a higher Koi or doesn't have one at all.
Out of principle, though, I think if you can do one thing, you should be able to do the reverse. It's as if you can drop items, but not pick them up. – acordova, on December 03, 2009 17:53

Martijn: In certain places, they've said they do not have plans to implement this, but in other areas (specifically their blog), they say they have it on their list. Not sure which is more accurate, but I think it's fair for us to lobby for making unvaulting happen. – acordova, on November 26, 2009 21:34

Duplicate SFO SpotsAny attempt to merge the duplicate SFO International Airport spots with the featured spot seems to give shenanigans, but here's the list of dupes:
Original: http://gowalla.com/spots/19542
Dupes: http://gowalla.com/spots/126636 (this one is way off), http://gowalla.com/spots/129774, http://gowalla.com/spots/129951, http://gowalla.com/spots/131358, http://gowalla.com/spots/131341, http://gowalla.com/spots/130077
I'm sure there's more :P
A comment on the question "5 Bay Bridge Spots?" in Gowalla:
Completely agree. I think the best spot for the Bay Bridge is the tollbooth (and not just because Jonathan Carroll created the spot!), not only because nearly everyone passes it, but because spots like the S-curve will be non-existant once the new bridge is completed (in 3045 or whenever it's supposed to be done). – acordova, on November 16, 2009 21:05

5 Bay Bridge Spots?I know I am soon going to be known as the "Spot Hater from the Bay Area," but are 5 Bay Bridge spots really necessary? They're not *technically* duplicates, but this seems a little overkill to me:
Not to mention, checking into these spots while driving is extremely dangerous :P
(FWIW, I initially thought these were all the same spot, just renamed for some unknown reason. Little did I know...)-

Yeah, that's what I meant.
I still have no idea which technology spots qualify, though. – acordova, on November 13, 2009 06:38

I left a question on Yahoo! Answers, and while I'm hoping I get an actual answer, I am betting on hilarious-yet-completely-unrelated answers. – acordova, on November 13, 2009 02:42

From the iPhone app, you can view all available trips and mission pins, but you're unable to do this from the website. However, I still haven't figured out how to get the technology startup pins (aside from Hacker, which I got randomly), so I know what you mean.
Having indicator buttons similar to those available for trips would be great for pins. That way, I could see how many coffee shops or startups I need to check into before I get the pin.
As for search, it seems that the results always max out at 8 pages, regardless if there are actually more results to show (of course, unless there are fewer than 8 pages worth of results). Occasionally, certain spots will only appear in searching by location only if you zoom in on the map.-

I also noticed that user-created spots that were turned into featured spots are not listed under "created spots," but are included in the creation total. So for me, it says I've created 78 spots, but only 77 show up in the list. – acordova, on November 12, 2009 23:35

Not all the spots have been created yet, but I'd love to see/create a Silicon Valley Garage trip. As in, the garages where a few of these early tech companies started.
So far, there are two spots created.

A comment on the question "Nominate Spots for Deletion/Deactivation?" in Gowalla:
Each Underground spot I think is valid, since it's a major thoroughfare. My main concern, like you pointed out, is that there is no category for a bus stop. Most bus stops aren't very interesting, so what's stopping someone from making a spot for every street corner? – acordova, on November 12, 2009 19:24
acordova asked a question in Gowalla on November 12, 2009 02:12:
Unable to Edit Featured Spots? Are STE's unable to make edits to featured spots now?
I was attempting to add the URL and Twitter account of a featured spot, and suddenly noticed that the edit button was missing. I checked a few other random featured spots, and the same thing: no edit button. I checked my AT&T Park spot (http://gowalla.com/spots/10677), which later became a featured spot, and I can't edit that either, even though I am the creator.
I figure this is a risk prevention measure, but I just want to make sure.-
