When I first had this problem and started looking for a solution I did not find a plugin that removed all revisions, so while I disabled revisions, which stopped new ones being created, the already existing ones were not removed.
I believe Johnstonian's solution is better. It is more elegant and has the added benefit of solving another problem I had. GeoPress would map future scheduled posts, so I had to write and schedule them, then edit them once live to add the geodata. If I added the geodata then scheduled them, the post would be mapped immediately but the URL was not live so it created an error.
This solution stops scheduled posts being mapped until they go live, which is brilliant!

Using FireBug to inspect the markers, you can see that your theme, "Structure" has a CSS that is adding a background to all images inside of a post:
style.css (line 430)
.post img, .post a img {
background:#EEEEEE none repeat scroll 0 0;
border:1px solid #01203C;
padding:3px;
}
You should remove that "background" line to have it not conflict with GoogleMaps.

If I am doing the firebug thing right, I don't see any java errors. Here is the link: http://www.blogsheboygan.com/crime-in...

I'm not sure what you mean by a non-public version? What do you want to do with it?
You can load arbitrary tile layers, so you could potentially point to your own locally hosted tileset - but you would need to use OpenLayers and not the GoogleMaps version since I believe that would break their terms of service.
