my friend is having this problem, www.twitter/joachim_joe, he asked me about it and I hadn't tried it because I had no need to. So I tried it, I can star my own posts they turn yellow and I've unstarred it too so it seems to work for me.
One question: when I star it what happens? I don't see a favs section...
Anyway my friend says nothing happens when he tries to star posts, again I don't have the problem so can't really say much.

Thanks, Mark. Hope y'all find a way to reduce the # of spam accounts that are starting up. Seems like it's a torrent recently! Take care! – @ggroovin, on July 10, 2008 03:53

Hey guys, sorry about that. http://help.twitter.com/ is back to normal and the the options (Spam, Request, Bug, etc.) are listed.

It appears this is no longer happening! Still getting spam accounts following me, but at least it's not as difficult to report 'em. Thank goodness. ;) – @ggroovin, on July 10, 2008 02:53

@ggroovin, I think I just found the help page that you're talking about.
My guess is they're in the process of migrating from one help system to another.
1. http://twitter.com/help
This is the help request form I've been using, which lets me choose 'spam request' and doesn't ask for my name and email address if I'm already logged in.
2. http://help.twitter.com/index.php?pg=...
And here's the new help request page that I just saw, which asks you to provide your name and email address even if you're already logged in... and doesn't let you choose the request type.
Is it possible that you were looking at the #2 link and not the #1 link? That would explain why we were getting different pages.

Oh my. Hope you don't mind my asking -- did you receive any automatically generated emails which confirm that the spam reports you submitted yesterday were received by Twitter?
If yes, then one way to log your latest spam report is to click the 'ticket history' link in one of those email confirmations so you can view the spam report that you had previously logged.
The support page lets you append additional information to an existing support ticket for as long as it's still open. So my suggestion is to append your latest spam report to that existing ticket.
I've done this myself a couple of times, especially when it's the same type of spam and the accounts seem to be related.

Hi @ggroovin. I think you get the page that requires a name and email address when you visit the Help Request page while you're not logged into Twitter.
Could you kindly try logging in and then going to http://twitter.com/help ? I just checked now (I'm logged in) and I was able to get the drop-down that let's me choose 'spam request'
@ggroovin replied on July 09, 2008 03:50 to the problem "spam!" in Twitter:
They changed the Twitter Help Request page. One can no longer choose 'spam request' and simply submit. In fact, when one submits a request there is no drop-down to indicate that one is submitting a spam account for consideration. They're also requiring one to provide a name and e-mail address (phone # optional) when submitting a help request.
