joanna reported a problem in foursquare on November 19, 2009 01:01:
More log-ins than check-insI have to authenticate each time I visit foursquare on my phone. I'm using a Windows Mobile phone. Even if I don't do anything else in the browser, the session seems to time out.

Special characters make DMs public (and Japanese?)I sent a DM today with a French character (ê). The system turned the first bit of the message into Asian characters and posted the last bit of the message as a separate tweet - publicly.-

joanna reported a problem in Sony on December 07, 2008 01:31:
My recalled notebook isn't being fixedSony put out a recall on some of their TZ series notebooks in September 2008. I happen to have one of them.
My timeline with customer service:
21 September: Sony sent me a letter and I registered on their web site for a repair
25 September: Sony told me that I was now registered and would hear from them in 14-28 days
31 October: I start thinking about how long ago it was since I've heard from Sony
2 November: I emailed Sony Support who emailed me back and told me to call a 1-800 number. I call the 1-800 number and they tell me that I've called the wrong Sony 1-800 number and give me a new one. The new one is only available during Eastern business hours so I wait until
3 November: I call the new support number and they take down my details and promise to get back to me in the next seven days
12 November: I called back, my recall notification is supposedly escalated to a manager who will get back to me later that day.
6 December: I still haven't heard from anyone at Sony.
The problem that these laptops have is that they get very hot and could cause burns. My laptop gets very hot but it's the only option that I have for a computer. One of the friendly (though unhelpful) Sony representatives told me to not leave it plugged in overnight. So, I've been doing that.-

Please ship to CanadaI just got my invitation to buy a Chumby and discovered that the company only ships within the United States. That's usually ok for me because I'd ship the package to friends in the US and pick it up. But, they also only accept credit cards with US addresses. What about PayPal?
I emailed Chumby to suggest this, and they responded quite quickly with the answer in their FAQ that it's "due to legal restrictions"
joanna reported a problem in John Fluevog on September 22, 2007 18:36:
Why is there such a difference between Canadian and American prices? The Canadian dollar is sitting at about 99 cents to the American dollar right now.
But, if you go to the Fluevog store (like every other retail outlet), the difference in prices doesn't reflect the currency differences. A pair of Katia shoes are $285 CDN or $239 US.
I'd expect something better from Fluevog - who just seems to be making money off of his (fellow) Canadian customers.
joanna asked a question in Air Canada on September 19, 2007 03:45:
Anyone know what Air Canada planes have AC plugs in economy?I was on an Airbus last week that had AC plugs in the backs of the seats -- endlessly useful. I was wondering if it's all the Airbuses or some of them or what.
joanna replied on September 18, 2007 18:14 to the question "Why can't I bring my dog on an Air Canada flight?" in Air Canada:
There could be many reasons. I don't work for Air Canada so these are just some guesses on my part. The official reason for not allowing pets in the cabin (this change happened a couple months ago) was people with allergies on the airplane. For "checked" pets, I think it was the increase in checked baggage after you couldn't take a tube of toothpaste (or anything else) into the cabin. This probably filled up the cargo hold and left little room for pets. Add to this the fact that Air Canada had a lot of problems with pets who would die in transit. It would be in the news from time to time. The temperature extremes (I think) were the problems.
Right now, you have to ship your pet on cargo (a separate plane from the one you fly) if you want to fly on Air Canada. I'd suggest WestJet - who still allows you to take your pet in the cabin or as checked baggage for a fee.-

joanna replied on September 18, 2007 02:17 to the question "How long does a style last in the stores?" in John Fluevog:
I haven't found a pattern to this. If a shoe design is selling well (an example of this are the lovely Malabrans from this year), it doesn't go on sale. And, the design hangs around. They don't have huge production runs so on some styles (like your boots) there aren't many hanging around.
Fluevog.com isn't the only source for the shoes. Try Ebay or zappos.com-

joanna replied on September 15, 2007 02:11 to the discussion "Lately it seems like the quality of Fluevog shoes has dropped a whole lot." in John Fluevog:
I buy a lot of shoes from Fluevog because I can wear them into the ground and resole them. My boyfriend followed me to the store last year and bought his own pair. The eyelets basically exploded off of the shoes with very minimal wear. I took them back to the store and Fluevog repaired them for free. Unfortunately, they only replaced the eyelets that came off completely and not the ones that are about to. So, I'll probably have to go back for more repairs.
For my own shoes, I get the rubber heels replaced or the zipper on a boot sometimes fails -- but, nothing as bad as the eyelet incident.
Are you finding the shoes in the store of low quality, or you had a problem since you bought the shoes?-
