boxman asked a question in Realmac Software on August 27, 2009 11:26:
Pages that never finish loadingMy preference when using LS is to load the pages using the in-built browser before 'snapping the current web page'. The problem I'm finding is that many pages never seem to finish loading, meaning the 'snap the current web page' button remains disabled. I then resort to using the 'snap address from Firefox' toolbar functionality as a fallback.
Is this a common problem or is it just me?

Password anti-pattern during sign-up?Is that the password anti-pattern in use during sign-up? That would be a shame.

boxman reported a problem in Get Satisfaction on August 12, 2009 09:09:
Signing-in with OpenID loses all entered data? It's nice that people aren't confronted with a login dialogue every time they want to interact with the site. But after filling out an entire new topic page to then be told that logging-in with OpenID will lose all the currently entered data is a bit rubbish. Kinda defeats the point.
Is there anyway of preserving the data but still allowing me to login with my OpenID?
boxman reported a problem in Realmac Software on August 12, 2009 08:57:
Editing 'unprocessed' imagesI like my LittelSnapper library to be organised so was really pleased to see the 'Unprocessed' rule added to the latest version. Only problem is, when I add any data (e.g. tags) to anything residing in this section the unprocessed rule immediately kicks in and I can no longer edit.
Logically this makes sense (the unprocessed rule is no longer applicable), but from a UX perspective this makes editing unprocessed images tough. I now have to dig in to my library to find the image to continue.
Any chance of holding off until I've finished editing?

Okay, it's pretty lo-fi, but it's a start!

Hi Sari
Not to my knowledge. Silverback currently only runs on Mac OSX so unless someone was using a desktop emulation of a MobileUI I can't see it being possible.
Clearleft have partnered with one-to-two dedicated mobile developers in the past so I'll throw the question their way to see if they have any recommendations.

A comment on the idea "Auto-complete username on @ replies" in Twitter:
Oh gosh, I don't mean auto-complete for *every* username–just those on your contact list. Currently, it's a bit of a faff having to cycle through pages of contacts to find one name. – boxman, on December 12, 2008 19:38

Auto-complete username on @ repliesHow about a (subtle, unobtrusive) auto-complete function when writing @ replies to people on your contact list? I tend to forget exact spellings of usernames, but more often than not remember the first letter. Yahoo's Pattern Library captures this approach: http://icanhaz.com/autocomplete
Lane Becker's reply to "Stop asking for Twitter passwords" was just promoted to the most useful! boxman and 2 other people think it's one of the best replies.
I'm with Scott, here. Let's figure something out together. Be reasonable. Be just a tiny bit patient. We're a small and resource-constrained company, and that impacts our ability to stop everything and meet the sudden demands of the more forward-looking and vocal members of the technical community.
We do our *best* to be upstanding members of that community (which was Ted's point, for the record.) We built the Twitter thing long before there was any general consensus among the technical community on the whole anti-pattern line, well before OAuth made this sort of thing much safer, and certainly before we knew about the approach Jeremy suggested above. When we recognize changes in the environment like this one we always make sure to get them on the schedule, but they can't happen overnight.
Let me ask you this: You guys are here, haranguing us, insisting we listen to you, not giving us the benefit of the doubt, and we're some of your strongest supporters on the company side. Any surprise that we've gotten so defensive? And if we're struggling to deal with your chosen approach, how in the world do you expect to convince the rest of the world?
#3 and #5 of the Company-Customer Pact are definitely relevant here. Time and benefit of the doubt. Please and thank you.
