Olly replied on August 21, 2008 08:55 to the problem "timeslips not adding up correctly." in FreeAgent Central:
Hi Tekin
I think the problem here is that you have entered a time in the Hours field as 7:50 rather than 7.5 (i.e. a colon rather than a full stop). FreeAgent interprets times with colons in as HH:MM, so in your case it has interpreted it as 7 hours and 50 minutes. This explains why these two timeslips have a combined hourly total of 15:40 -- it's 15 hours and 40 minutes, not 15.4 hours.
You can still enter time in decimal format, as opposed to HH:MM, but you should be sure to use a full stop, so 7.5 rather than 7:50 in your case. If you change the hours value of these timeslips to 7.5 should see the times adjusted and displayed as 7:30 -- i.e. 7 hours 30 minutes.
We recently modified FreeAgent to display times in HH:MM format and to support a wider range of time input formats, so this is probably where the confusion lies.
We're looking at the possibilty of adding this display format as an setting, so you can choose decimal over HH:MM if you prefer.

Hi Rich
I answered your questions on this thread: http://getsatisfaction.com/freeagentc...
In short:
1. Not directly at the moment
2. Yes!

@James, @rich
Apologies, this question somehow got lost along the way so sorry about that.
1. How about we pre-populate the email message area with the previously sent message text?
2. We'll have a think about adding some HTML support but it's not a high priority right now. Allowing Markdown or Textile in the text area might be an option here.
3. The customisable From: address is a good idea. As a workaround in the interim you can add another user with the email address accounts@... and send the invoice when logged in as that user.
We also plan on adding support for sending to multiple email addresses and also providing auto-complete on the address fields.
Olly replied on August 18, 2008 21:45 to the question "PayPal account howto" in FreeAgent Central:
Just thought I'd follow up on here now that we've discovered what was going on.
The problem was that downloads from a Personal Paypal account have a different format (less fields) than Premier or Business Paypal accounts. FreeAgent needs these extra fields, so the solution was to upgrading from Personal to Premier, which is free to do.

@reallysmellyhosting
You can point your own subdomain to your FreeAgent URL using a simple DNS setting, e.g something like:
Name: accounts
Type: CNAME
Value: companyname.freeagentcentral.com
Once this has been configured, someone visiting accounts.companydomain.com will automatically be redirected to companyname.freeagentcentral.com.

Thanks for the followup Ed. Yes, it's the second step we would need.
I have spoken with our accountant today and for the meantime we're going to keep records for the individual PayPal transactions outside of FreeAgent. That will be fine for now, as long as we keep copies of all the invoices ourselves, and record which include/exclude VAT.
Thanks for your help.

Hi - the comments on invoices works well, I was referring more to having a standard message that goes in the email with the invoice. – richallum, on August 14, 2008 08:35
Ed Molyneux replied on August 14, 2008 08:30 to the question "PayPal currency recognition" in FreeAgent Central:
salted,
Our current work on multi-currency is on multi-currency invoicing and being able to reconcile the differences when payments received in your native currency aren't the same as you expected because of currency movements. So far so simple ;0>
What we're not doing yet is handling bank-accounts (or indeed paypal accounts) which are in other currencies and payments which are received against invoices into those accounts. Or purchases made from those accounts. Or transfers between accounts of different currencies.
This second step is significantly more complex to generate the accounts for.
The instantaneous conversions that paypal does if you maintain a single GBP account but take payments in USD - something we already deal with - is like 'Hello World' in comparison.
We're up for it, it's just going to take a little longer.
Is it that second step you're needing, then? Could we somehow script the conversion of those Paypal transactions into GBP?

I forgot to respond to this point:
8. A message window to send with the invoices - Just incase users want to/need to send a message along with the invoice.
We already support the concept of comments on invoices. This sounds like exactly what you want? When you send an invoice by email, we also allow you to write your own email text.
To add to this, it would be very useful to have additional sorting or filtering of the invoices (e.g. all draft invoices for this month, view all invoices over a defined period).
Adding additional invoice views and improving the sorting ability of our data tables is also on our radar
