Hi Tabbs,
You cannot send text messages directly to Sandy at this time. But you can use Twitter via text messages to send stuff to Sandy. See
http://iwantsandy.com/help/twitter
for all the details.

Yes, but in your case that wasn't the problem, because your message *does* have the proper header (both Thunderbird and Gmail do the right thing). It was indeed a bug, which I have now fixed. It will be rolled out in the next couple of hours.
Thanks again for the report — you're really helping us to make Sandy better!

Turns out that Sandy gets confused if you send a "lookup" in combination with something else (in your case, a forget). So if you send lookups in their own messages, this won't happen.
But I'm working with Sandy now so that it doesn't matter. Look for her to be less confused by a reply to a message with both lookups and other stuff by tomorrow.
Sorry for the hassle.

David

I see in another thread that you're using Thunderbird. So that's not it...
Okay, just had a look at Sandy's database, and found a couple of things:
1. Your "meeting with dad" detail has been forgotten. Could you have forgotten it in another message?
2. It looks like Sandy is again tracking the numbers of things in two different ways for a lookup, which is what you sent her here. Apologies for that; I'll get her straightened out right away.
3. Sandy does not understand "remind me #1 tomorrow". If you're updating something, you have to use the word "update" or "u", as in "u #1 remind me tomorrow".
I'll get right on that lookup ordering issue. Many thanks again for posting.

David

No norbiq,
What email client are you using? If it's a BlackBerry or Yahoo! Mail, there is a bug where those client's don't properly tell Sandy what message you're replying to. So Sandy falls back on the most recent message you sent with the same subject. Since you're replying to a message with no subject at all ("Re: "), I'm guessing that you often send messages with no subject, and that, in this example, you were not replying to the most recent message with no subject.
Do please let me know if I'm way off base here.

David

Hi norbiq,
It looks like the * characters in this bit confused Sandy:
> *From:* "Sandy [iwantsandy.com]"
> *To:* Norbert
> *Sent:* Dec 19, 2007 1:13:13 PM +0100
> *Subject:*
Sandy is used to ignoring lines like this, but not with the asterisks. Those are new to her. So she say the date there on the "*Sent:*" line and grabbed it. She would have ignored it if it had looked like this:
> From: "Sandy [iwantsandy.com]"
> To: Norbert
> Sent: Dec 19, 2007 1:13:13 PM +0100
> Subject:
Tell me, what email client are you using? I'm curious to know whether this is a common formatting. If so, I can easily get Sandy to adjust her expectations.
Thanks for taking the time to report this!

Theory, an employee of I want Sandy, replied on December 17, 2007 23:29 to the idea "keeping lists" in I want Sandy:
Hi ffunky,
All sandy updates are done using the numbers assigned to details. Every time Sandy sends you a message, she enumerates each detail in the message. Then, when you reply to that message with "update #1" or "forget #2", Sandy knows which message you're replying to and therefor which detail you want to update.
It's no different with lists. The expectation is that you'll reply to a message from Sandy containing the list in question and use the number assigned to it in that message to update it. Details that Sandy tracks do not have unique names or even numbers, just numbers specific to an individual message from Sandy.
I recognize that this is probably not quite the answer you were looking for, but it's fundamental to how Sandy works: You correspond with her via email (or Jott or Twitter). That might be an easier way to think of her than as a database of arbitrary factoids on a Web site.
