A comment on the question "adobe cs3 utilize quad core and all 8 gigs of ram?" in Adobe:
It's very easy to get up to 8GB... try opening a TIFF at 1200dpi for print and start applying filters. You'll eat it up really quick. – occamsmonkey, on April 16, 2008 06:50

If the vista your client uses is 64 bit then It def will recognize all 8 gig of ram.. a 64 bit os has a theoretical capability of about 16 Exabites of RAM thats 16 Billion GIGabites.. !
And about Photoshop... Yes I do presume it utillizes multiple cores..
and the RAM depends on the work load its given..
I dont think photoshop would ever use 8GIG of ram!...
one can never give it that much load!

On multi-processor/core support: The level of support depends on the application. Off the top of my head, Photoshop and many of the video products (After Effects, Premiere, etc.) support multiple cores. Others may not take advantage directly but will still see speed gains due to operating system tasks being offloaded to the others cores.
On RAM: I think I'm out of my technical depth here. Why wouldn't they?-

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I posted this issue after having done much homework: I spent hours searching Forum and the Knowledgebase as well as holding for a tech support person........
The good news is that the problem is finally solved...... turns out some random paragraphs had the language set to None.

From Ted's link:
Solutions
Do one or more of the following:
Solution 1
In the Spelling Checker, click Options. Examine the Find and Ignore sections of the Options dialog box to make sure no items are erroneously selected or deselected.
Solution 2
Make sure that your document is not formatted completely in superscript or subscript text. To do so, highlight a section of text, open the Character Designer and Paragraph Designer, and make sure that Superscript or Subscript is not selected in either.
Solution 3
Open the Paragraph Designer and make sure that Language is not set to None for any paragraph whose spelling you wish to check. To find the Language setting:
- in FrameMaker 5.0 to 5.2, choose Advanced from the Properties pop-up menu.
- in FrameMaker 5.5.x, choose Default Font from the Properties pop-up menu.
Solution 4
In the Spelling Checker, click Dictionaries. Select "Mark All Paragraphs for Rechecking," choose Set to None from the Personal Dictionary pop-up menu, and choose Document Dictionary in the "Clear" pop-up menu in that order.

Wow, Kberger, I love Adobe products but that support area is impossible to get any answers out of. Really, really unusable. That goes for both the Knowledgebase and the Forums.
Perhaps we'll be able to get Ellyn some real help by talking through her problem. Ellyn, assuming that Ted's forum link didn't help you can you tell us a little more about your system (e.g. operating system)? What is the specific context in which you're trying to use the spell checker?

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with this problem...I would try contacting Adobe Support or searching the Adobe forums:

Since they were released before Windows Vista came out, we can't guarantee that they work. The versions you mention are already more than five years old, so it seems likely you'll run into at least some issues. You can find more details on Adobe software's Vista support here:
