livlab asked a question in The Information Architecture Institute on December 16, 2008 00:48:
How should the IAI give away 2 tickets to SXSW '09?With the economy downturn I know many had to give up on that dream but we love you and we think you should go to South By South West 2009 (http://sxsw.com). But how do we select who gets it? YOU DECIDE!
livlab asked a question in The Information Architecture Institute on December 14, 2008 02:16:
What's missing from your professional life today that the IAI could help with?Maybe you are new to the field, maybe you are transitioning into a new role or have recently become a manager. Or perhaps your are interested in acquiring new skills or meeting other people in your city that practice information architecture. Whatever your circumstances, how can we help? What's missing in your professional life today?

What are 3 things you DON'T like about the IA Institute? The IAI has been around for a while and we don't always get everything right. As we plan 2009 and beyond, please share the top three things that haven't worked for you, have frustrated you or just didn't meet your expectations in some way. Thank you for taking the time!

livlab shared an idea in The Information Architecture Institute on December 13, 2008 16:36:
What is your I(A)Q?Book (or other) giveaway from the IAI. We'll ask questions about information architecture or people in the IA field via tweeter. The first person to get n questions right gets a book/thing.
Goal:
- attract attention to the IAI
- start changing the image of the IAI (more informal, laid back, fun)
- start re-engaging with the community at large.
- introduce Twitter as key channel in the IAI/community relationship
Other things:
- Do this monthly
- get sponsors to give us stuff to give away (in exchange for promoting them)
- let people submit questions (harder/obscurer the better)
It could be anything from "who coined the term information architect" to "how many pages are there in the first edition of the Polar bear book". It should be fun, exciting and a little silly. It should also be about information architecture first and foremost.

Prominance of my contacts versus my informationWhile I like where chi.mp is going with the new contacts feature, I don't understand why it's placed on top of everything else on my profile page.. From a presentation standpoint, that's secondary to all my other info and (if present at all), I'd expect it to come after my my blogs, where I am on the web, etc.-

Under the same lines, it would be nice to be able to hide some specific addresses from anyone (like a checkbox "hide specifics") - I may not want my home address publicized, even to friends. Or maybe I don't want people to join in when I'm at a strip club, though I want to state I'm there ;) Seriously though, just way to be entirely private without disrupting the communication.-

We are conducting some experiments in a few markets - for now, I recommend you start using Fancast and TV Planner (I would expect some early integration to manifest on those places).
