Hey Joanie, what country are you talking about? Also, this is probably an appropriate topic to ask as a brand new question. Please be specific about the country when you do that. – Cameron Walters, on July 14, 2008 16:21

We have been getting calls from odd area codes - we don't answer but when we try to call back, we get the message that it's not a valid number. Once it was from 1234567891, which is obviously a false numer. Otherwise it's been from 802 or 251, or 208 area codes. I'm worried its something malicious, too.

you can @reply someone who doesn't follow you and your reply will appear in the replies tab, but you can only direct message someone if they follow you. – crystal, on May 22, 2008 19:31

the hashtag before any word or name is a method that lets another site aggregate any references to that word or name. I'm pretty sure that's how it works.
This is from the hashtags.org site:
"Hashtags are a community-driven convention for adding additional context and metadata to your tweets. They're like tags on Flickr, only added inline to your post. You create a hashtag simply by prefixing a word with a hash symbol: #hashtag.
Hashtags were developed as a means to create "groupings" on Twitter, without having to change the basic service. The hash symbol is a convention borrowed primarily from IRC channels, and later from Jaiku's channels."

That would be great. I don't even think you'd need language to do it. Here's a quick mockup of what I was thinking: http://www.timletscher.com/blog/expan...

So as of right now, we're only doing live calls, which means we can really only grab the last 24 hours of your friends' activity which is pretty limiting.
We're working on a whole new back end which is going to archive everything that comes into us. We'll also no longer be doing live updates as the only way of fetching your data...we'll do it in the background periodically, which means as soon as you log in you're going to see updates, and then it load in the most fresh content.
This will also allow us to paginate. So for the short answer, it's on its way...
