Your TiVo HD won't work with satellite. It can however be used without cable, if you are satisfied with only receiving over the air antenna channels and internet downloads like TiVoCast, Amazon Unbox, and YouTube downloads.
Like you, we have DirecTV service (must have my Steelers and Penguins!) We have an HD DirecTV TiVo *and* a TiVo HD. I use both, though my TiVo HD can't connect to our DirecTV service and we don't subscribe to cable service. We use our TiVo HD to play music in the living room, view our photos with friends, and watch over the air and internet downloaded video. This works really well for us since alot of our favorite HD shows are on the broadcast networks. This leaves lots of space on the DirecTV TiVo for sports! ;)
As others have mentioned, DirecTV and TiVo have announced a reengagement of their partnership. Eventually we should see TiVo DirecTV HD receivers for sale again.
Seems like you have a few options for now (in no particular order)...
o Switch to cable and drop DirecTV.
o Get cable and keep DirecTV(!)
o Use the TiVo HD for over the air and internet downloads; keep DirecTV.
o Sell or return the TiVo HD.
Whatever you decide...best of luck!

I screwed up. What are my options?I got too excited when I heard the HD TiVo was released in a more affordable version, and I immediately bought one.
But, the reason I haven't had TiVo in two years is because I have an HDTV hooked up to DirecTV. So the new device will not work.
Is there ANYTHING I can do? Convert the signal to the cable card signal? Some kinda fancy DirecTV to Cable signal box?

I actually was going to suggest that I like a lot of these emotions. Frustrated, sad and such are honestly really great to have because people will feel like they can be less than just "frowny" and don't necessarily have to be angry. I do think the current emoticons aren't very clear what those expressions are. I'd be happy to whiteboard some emoticons that represent those expressions anytime.

The plan now is to have the four basic "satisfacticons" shown above and let users add the most appropriate word. So for "confident" a user would select the smiley satisfacticon and add the word in the talk bubble. This provides the simple structure you mention with the benefit of extensibility at the textual level.
Lewis replied on July 21, 2007 21:37 to the question "a "hopeful" emoticon would be nice..." in Get Satisfaction:
I dislike the idea of users drawing their own. Part of the purpose of emoticons is to enable users to identify mood when text isn't sufficient. Considering that people from different cultures already interpret emoticons differently, throwing an even more subjective wrench into the works with the user-drawn variety would very likely make things worse. Since emoticons function as a simplification of communication, a little structure is important. They are supposed to be relatively simple and universal, otherwise they lose that function, and then what's the point of using them at all?
With that said, I really came here to request a "confident" emoticon. When company representatives or users answer the questions of other users, this is probably the mood they will be feeling most often. Since it's the opposite of anxious, I think it belongs.
