A comment on the idea "Twitter/Facebook syncing should prepend " twittering: " or similar" in Twitter:
Tim - as per the above posts, use the third-party twittersync application to update your facebook status rather than twitter's own offering. That gives you the option to prepend with a customisable string (like mrdctaylor, I'm using "[via twittersync]" to give them a bit of publicity) as well the option to filter certain tweets that you *don't* want to update your facebook status (e.g. @ messages). – jimjarmo, 3 minutes ago

jwmosley replied 34 minutes ago to the problem "Twitter Hates My Cell Phone" in Twitter:
I have the same problem. I'm using a BlackBerry with Sprint service. I send texts to 40404. I get confirmation that my text was sent. But I never get anything from Twitter. Texting the six-letter confirmation code gets nothing. Texting "HELP" or "ON" or anything else - I don't get any response from twitter. I contacted Sprint and confirmed that no short codes (or anything else) were block from sending me texts. I even got a short code reply from sprint.
I'm wondering, during my research I noticed that Sprint's support says that SMS messages sent to a number preceded with "1" or "+1" will not be received. Does twitter add this prefix?
A comment on the problem "Twitter Hates My Cell Phone" in Twitter:
Yes, I did exactly that. My Sprint cell says that the message to 40404 was sent successfully, but nothing ever happens. I do not receive a reply from Twitter either when I send HELP. – Kyle Dylan Conner, about 2 hours ago

Yup, that's what happens to me on my Sprint cell. It says it sent successfully, but nothing ever happens. – Kyle Dylan Conner, about 2 hours ago

Dave,
We emailed support@twitter.com. Since the account had been created a long time ago but never used, they passed it to us. I don't know what time period they wait & I have no idea what they would do if it were an active account.
Good luck

I've tagged the two similar threads with "url shortening service" to make finding them easier in the future.

Opening the door to other URL shrinking ideas would be awesome. See the similar request here:

Not sure if it was readding the contact or typing "on" in the chat window that did it. It's working now; if it breaks again I'll update the case. Thanks for the help! – astralbodies, about 3 hours ago

astralbodies -- I just remembered something else we haven't tried yet... could you kindly try logging into Gtalk, removing the Twitter bot from your GTalk contact list, then adding it back?
Someone else did this before and it worked for them.

Looks like if I go offline, I do actually go offline. So I'm not sure what's up. – astralbodies, about 4 hours ago

Oh, we had the same suggestion, although in my case I had suggested Tweetburner as an alternative.
Thanks for sharing the link to http://ri.ms -- I hadn't heard of that service before.
pbrush replied about 4 hours ago to the problem "I can't set up my phone with Twitter; is my phone supported?" in Twitter:
I've got a similar problem as well. Using AT&T wireless with an older nokia 6620. I get sms from google and other phones but twitter will not work. I get no response from the on command however I can post. I've deleted the phone and settings several times yet always get "We tried to send an SMS update to your phone but we couldn't reach you."
Any thoughts on what could be wrong?

I know I'm not actively logged into GTalk in more than one place but you never know if I have an orphaned session out there. I'll try testing that theory out with having a friend tell me if I'm offline or not. :) – astralbodies, about 4 hours ago
