Biz Stone replied on September 04, 2008 20:33 to the question "Why can't I view all of my updates?" in Twitter:
Hi Folks. Every tweet is saved forever and they belong to you. The fact that you can't access them past a certain point right now is an technical challenge that we're working on.
If all goes well, the next engineering update will fix the "Older" button and give you web access as far as 3,200 tweets back. I understand that is still an unacceptable limitation—we will continue to work on it. Additionally, you will be able to go more pages back on your home page timeline.
We're hoping to get these changes out today but it doesn't always go exactly to plan. Thanks for you patience!

Hey folks. Alex and Britt (Twitter engineers) have discovered a likely cause of this problem and they put a fix in which will go out in the next deploy—hopefully that can be Monday. They tell me that IE was sending a faulty header to Twitter and they've figured out how to deal with it. Either way, let's see what happens on Monday. Thanks for your patience!

Biz Stone replied on May 23, 2008 01:30 to the problem "Twitter refuses to uphold Terms of Service" in Twitter:
We're upset that Ariel is having such a bad experience with Twitter. She's been a long term user of ours and a great advocate of our service. Also, it's clear that folks here are interested and concerned about how we at Twitter react to content issues like this.
Something to keep in mind is that we're discussing content that has not been shared here. This account is no longer available for review because the person who created it willingly removed it back in March. We reviewed this account at the time of the complaint and did not find it in violation of our Terms.
The fact that so many of us can have differing opinions without having even reviewed the content we're discussing highlights the difficulty of this issue. In fact, Twitter recognizes that it is not skilled at judging content disputes between individuals. Determining the line between update and insult is not something that Twitter nor a crowd would do well.
We have deleted accounts for more straightforward violations of the existing Terms. That being said, we are engaged in an editorial review of those Terms to make it more clear what actions we will and won't take. Essentially, Twitter is a communication utility, not a mediator of content.
It's great that everyone's talking about this because it helps us make important decisions. After all, Twitter is a new medium that we're all figuring out as we go.

I've got good news. We've caught up with this issue and we're currently backfilling the timelines. This will take a few hours but once things are caught up, we should be back to delivering all updates in a timely fashion. Also, we will have successfully moved to the new memcaching scheme—which will make Twitter better, despite the bumpy road we took to get there.

Maybe you heard about a service that works together with Twitter. (There are lots of those.) For example, there's this site: http://dearlazy.com/
"When you have a question and are convinced that someone out there has already done the research and knows the answer you turn to asking the LazyWeb for advice. A website used to provide a structured format for asking the LazyWeb but has since closed. Many people already use Twitter as an easy way to ask the LazyWeb but, unfortunately, your cry for help only reaches as far as those who follow you and you cannot be anonymous."
