I was able to add the PDF version to my cart. Make sure you are clicking the 2nd button down and verify the price is $27.99, since the print and PDF versions are priced differently.

I'm trying to but the PDF version of SQL Cookbook. But when I click the button for adding the PDF to my cart, the paper version is added. Very annoying. :-(

We've found the main bottleneck and adjusted our system so you should now be able to login. It's still a little slow but it shouldn't time out anymore. Please let us know if you still can't login.

I finally received an email from Safari Books that essentially said, "Your trial ends soon, subscribe here..."

After approving the subscription, I could login without hanging or errors.

Oops, it turns out that even trying to login now routes to the message as described by Osa above. The results are the same as tested from a Mac (Safari and Firefox) and PC (IE).

I got the same message. It is unfortunate for a new customer who wants to activate so he can get down to learning.

I should actually activate automatically since my trial period ends today. I fear that if I try to sign out and sign in that it will hang again.

Yes, we're adding new pdfs every week. And yes, we do have a list, but it may not be exactly what you're looking for. Our complete book list at http://www.oreilly.com/store/complete... has a column for "PDF." If a book is in PDF format, an icon will appear.

Thanks for your answer. So will more and more PDF titles be added as they are converted? Could you make a filter on your web page so only PDFs are listed? That would be a great help. I don't get why authors care if their books are sold as PDFs or in dead tree format. I would think that the fact that the dramatically lowered productions costs for PDFs, once converted, would offset the lower price? Anyway, keep up the good work!

We're in the process of converting several hundred of our backlist to PDF format, as well as new books as they come out. Our internal production group handles all the conversions, and they have to balance this task with the timely release of new print books. We also have to take into account the concerns of some authors who are worried that release of their books into PDF will undermine sales of their print books. While I think there is much more to be gained by a proliferation of digital formats, this is new territory and we need to address the concerns of our authors. But our goal is to release as many books into digital format that we can, and more are on the way.

Hey. Just wondered if you can give an ETA on offering the full catalog for purchasing in PDF format? There are several books I want to buy, but I want them in PDF format. I've become spoilt by those that you do offer as PDFs and even rebought some of the books I own in dead tree format for the convenience. So come on O'Reilly, what about it?

OK, I actually managed to buy this PDF yesterday, but the link to the download in the mail doesn't work! I get a "An invalid media request was made.(error blank182)". And yeah, I removed the arrows around the link! And the title hasn't turned up under my profile like it should either !!

I'm extremely peeved !
