I pasted the list of music blogs that used to be accessible from the birdhouse into a wiki page. http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Docs/Mus...
A comment on the problem "Can't hide left sidebar while in library tab" in Songbird:
I would at least like the option of being able to hide the sidebar. I don't see how allowing this would cause any problems. The service pane is indeed critical, but there are times when you don't need it and instead make heavy use of the song list only (well, I do at least), and it would be nice make maximal use of window space for that. – CyLith, on September 10, 2008 03:31

Thanks for your replies.
Actually I thought this was a bug because at first I was able to hide it. After starting Songbird I could hide it until new tab was opened, then it didn't work until restarting program. If I remember correctly there was an update and after that this was fully disabled.
Yes, I'd like to be able to do that, no doubt about it. And I don't see any reason why it should be disabled. After all there is a button already there :). What's the harm to give user this ability if she/he wants do hide it? I don't use service panel that much and I like to keep it looking simple. I don't use playlists or bookmarks, I use Firefox to websites so no need for tabs. Songbird is just for music sitting in other side of secondary monitor next to the IRC client.

Yes - it is as designed but since this is new functionality we introduced in this release, we are eager to hear what you think.
We made the assumption that the service pane is a critical part of navigating your local media so you should never be in a situation where you can't see status around what you are looking at and where you can go.
maroach, you prefer to have the ability to show/hide the service pane when navigating your local media?

Hi Komi,
I'm sorry for writing such a sloppy post.
As I tagged my topic I'm using songbird 0.8.0pre with Vista business.
I guess my problem is caused by the gonzo feathers because with rubberducky I don't have these problems.
As seen on my picture the letters of the services panes are much smaller than these in the "content" part of gonzo. I got a 12" tft laptop with 1400x* in resolution and so it's quite difficult to read letters smaller than these in the "content" part of songbird. My problem is now that I'm not able to enlarge the service pane. Actual the solve of my problem is to use a smaller resolution what i dislike. So I would be happy about any option to increase the dpi of songbird with gonzo feathers. (I don't have a problem like this with rubberducky).
At least here different settings with getting this effect:
vista business
120dpi
songbird 0.7rc1 / 0.8.0pre
thanks for help
