Mr Beach, Mr Jacob - I have replied to one of my own posts and it records and represents well. I was unaware the reply recorder was a different animal.
So, now we have tried a new channel which worked, replied to a challenge which works, replied to a post, which works, so the only problem we have is somewhere in the main recording department.
I notice a subtle change in the way things work - I can get out of the impending browser crash by clicking any local link.
I also notice that a reply, once recorded, 'lets the camera go' as it were - in that the live light on my camera goes out - the main recording one hangs on.
Is that any help?

wow... huh that is so strange.
so the new channel works, but your old channel doesn't? hmm that's a pickle. I want jacob to look into this before we delete anything...
hey jacob... can you dig around and see what sort of hiccup might be getting in the way of zoetrope and also why zoetrope101 would work instead?

the majority of the problems seem to be with logitech equipment. even older stuff. good news is that I have set up a meeting with Adobe to discuss this and other interesting things with them. :) – beach, on October 02, 2008 22:35

great! let us know. though it's very interesting that it's working on the challenge recorder and not on the logged in recorder... could be a code thing in the logged in recorder...
another thing to try is if it still fails on the logged in recorder, try to do a video reply on someone's post, even your own. That uses the same small recorder and if it works there, then we can take an even closer look at the logged in recorder.
Again. Thanks so much for digging into this!

Mr Beach, Mr Beach - I have news.
Here's the latest trip;
If I record a 12seconds answering a challenge - as in the latest one - what are you wearing etc, the thing works like it did before - full video, full sound. All good.
If I do the same on my own channel I get a lock up and drama.
It appears to me that the problem only began when I emailed, or mobile posted the last two entries - after that things went very odd.
Theory here - maybe insane but it's worth a look - can you delete the last two posts and we will see if they have been the problem. I have no idea why they would be, but the fact that it works on another channel, just not mine, makes me wonder.
So, why don't you slash a few entries and I'll try again.
Stop press - I have just noticed I can delete them myself - so I am going to do that and see what happens.

beach replied on October 02, 2008 16:56 to the question "can you up load from a flip camera" in 12seconds:
Hi scott.
Here's how to send a video from a flip. I just bought a flip camera and it works great with 12seconds.
In the flip software, it should give you an option to "send to a video site". I think it's the third option. first being youtube, etc. the second is "email" and the third is the one you want to use.
What that does is it compresses the video and puts it in a folder for you to find and then upload yourself or... in this case email.
Once you've done that step, all you need to do is use your regular email application or service, start a new email message, attach the new file to that email and send it to your unique 12seconds email address.
The subject of the email will be the title of the video.
I hope this makes sense... I don't have the Flip software in front of me, so I'm doing this by memory.
Please let me know or us know if you have any trouble. We want this to be as easy as possible, and I know that it hasn't yet. We will fix the sprint issue, and we will also build an upload page on the site to make it easier to post clips from camcorders and cameras.
Thanks so much for sticking with us and for using getsatisfaction! We totally appreciate it.
Take care,

Evening there Mr Beach good to hear from you.
Yes the site worked brilliantly on this camera, until the drama of the repeat posts via email thing - then it all seemed to fall in a heap.
Yes indeed the Logitech works on Seesmic - I often to be found there bashing people's eyes with my rough head.
I don't think the 9000 is the complete problem - I actually dislike it intensely, but I have just connected my old, golf ball type Logitech which I use as an infrared head tracker, which uses it's original gear, and recorded 12seconds of what should be 3 tracking dots, but it won't post either.
Mate I am loving the Spring - get over here and I'll take kite buggying - perfect weather.
sailor replied on October 02, 2008 06:54 to the question "12seconds Crashing my Firefox 3" in 12seconds:
and you're here as well - you get around Beach!
12seconds user id is zoetrope, and the phone is a Nokia N73 on a provider called '3' here - they use the Telstra coverage as a backup to their own. In other words if I stray out of their net I am picked up by Telstra.
Because I am an obsessive I have tried it, very early on in 12seconds life, in both networks and it seems to have no problems. There's no doubt the phone handles it because I mail straight in to Blip.tv as well.
Of course you'll figure it out - you have to - I need my 12 seconds

Beach, thanks so much for being on the case. It's REALLY good to know that we've been heard and that someone is actually trying to do something about it. You guys get major points for effort.
I would have never guessed the problem to be the headset! Who knew? Oh, well, I guess you did.
I hope that you can get it sorted out. But thank you for even trying!
beach replied on October 01, 2008 23:03 to the problem "I declare 12seconds officially dead." in 12seconds:
hey sailor, thanks for the info. I believe we deleted the posts, so at least that's taken care of... Did the site ever work for you with your webcam? We're going to go and purchase a Logitech 9000 to see what we can do about debugging it. It seems that you are not alone with the crashing and that camera. It works for you on Seesmic right?
thanks sir. Again, much appreciated. I hope you are enjoying your Spring.
beach replied on October 01, 2008 22:59 to the question "how do I delete my account? Sorry guys but I want out." in 12seconds:
hey sasspparrella. Jacob's response will work for you for now. We will be implementing a delete account function when we come out of alpha.
If you have a moment, let us know what issues you are having with the site (except that there's no delete account function), so that we can consider them for changes to make the user experience better.
If you don't want to, that's cool too. No worries. We just want to know how we can improve stuff.
Thanks so much,

zoetrope
check that last post ( http://12seconds.tv/channel/zoetrope/...)and you will notice a reply from Mr Sol explaining that I am causing a non resolved loop (I noticed that when it appeared 25 times on Soup) and his advice to use a webcam instead. Duly did that and now no post at all. Mentioned above by Jacob that all wireless carriers are not the same.
Indeed he is so correct, but I had previously sent in emails, and MMS, with spectacular results.
I really need you to slash out all those repeated entries for me before someone declares me a spammer. From the last visible entry (30234) forward are all junk.
Thanks
beach replied on October 01, 2008 21:52 to the question "12seconds Crashing my Firefox 3" in 12seconds:
okay sailor... i see all of these now. no need to reply to the earlier questions...
First, I'm totally sorry that this is happening.
The problem is that there are conflicts with Logitech hardware and the adobe flash recorder. This is a larger issue than just 12seconds and we're trying to work with Adobe to figure it out. Luckily I have friends in high places there.
As far as the mobile posts are concerned, i'm not sure what the issue is.
What is your 12seconds userid? I'd like to take a look. Perhaps there is some process that is getting kluged because of the webcam issue that is messing with your mobile posts. Not certain. I'll have our engineer take a gander.
One final question... what is your phone type and cell phone service provider? This would also help us debug.
Again. so so so sorry that you are having all these problems... you're amazing to keep trying and to help us by using satisfaction. Thank you so much!
We'll figure it out (i hope)

hey man, need some help here. I can't repeat the problem. can you please tell me what is happening? I just recorded without any issues.
http://12seconds.tv/channel/beach/32648
Here are some questions:
1. PC or Mac
2. What browser?
3. What kind of webcam are you using?
4. When was the last time it worked?
5. What is your 12seconds user name?
We want to help. We certainly don't want to be dead.
I'm very sorry that you are having problems.
Please let us know, so we can get things fixed.
Thanks!

... I have just recorded an update and it is promising it is posting - CPU usage is 11% on FF3, and we both know it's never going to get there. I like doing futile things. And... when I get tired of staring at that screen I will click 'everyones' and let the 'post it' page drop out gracefully - I'm nice like that.
Latest 12 updates shows the titles and the broken image icon, but there's no body home.
A comment on the question "Are European networks supported for posting videos by MMS?" in 12seconds:
I'm on O2. I've had no trouble sending videos to Daiymotion by mms, but am really keen to use 12seconds. Thanks for the response. I hope it can be resolved :D – seaempty, on September 30, 2008 21:22
