urban_mermaid reported a problem in USPS on June 01, 2009 19:23:
Properly Addressed Mail being Returned as "No Such Address"For several months now, my mail has been returned to sender marked as "no such address." I have lived at the same address for six years, with no change to location. I've called USPS customer service, talked to the local station manager twice, and even gone in to the office with an example of a returned envelope. However, my mail is still being returned to sender. Anyone else have this problem and have any suggestions of how to work with USPS to get mail delivered? In the interim, I've taken to providing everyone with the 9 digit zip (5+4) and even then, not all mail is getting through to me. Open to any suggestions.

I want specifics on the sacrifices we can make from our President-Elect's perspective, bucketed into different areas: finance/economy, education, environment, etc.
I think there's some basics: increase the amount that is put into your savings account each month, live within your means, take public transportation where possible, shop local, buy made in the USA, pay attention to key local initiatives, attend a school board (or other governmental meeting), reduce your electricity needs.
Where's the wiki already?
To be clear, I think that most of these efforts need to come from the populace itself, but in his nomination speech, Barack made note that he expected sacrifices, so I want to hear what those are too.-

No account deletionAlumni Archive builds websites for high school alumni associations around the country. I initially created an account for my high school reunion happening this year. For the first six months, I could see the profiles of other folks without any issues. However, it seems now that I can't view any other users unless I subscribe to their service. I refuse to purchase this information and want to delete my account. There's no delete account button and I am awaiting a response to an email complaint. I just ask Alumni Archive to add a delete button, especially when they possess my information.
urban_mermaid reported a problem in Zoomerang on June 26, 2008 14:20:
Zoomerang Surveys in FirefoxCurrently running a survey using Zoomerang. I've found that it doesn't work within Firefox on a Mac. (It may not work on other versions of Firefox either, but that's the one complaint I have.) I emailed Zoomerang only to be told that they often have problems with Firefox and I should be using Internet Explorer. This makes NO sense, given that Firefox holds a significant market share. This creates a lousy customer experience for my users.-

Thor, thanks for the thorough explanation of everything. Above all, I think I'm most irritated about the "non-real" name issue since I use the same name practically everywhere online. In fact, there are many people who don't know my given name. Part of this was to ward off stalkers, since I have an extremely rare surname.
But I've also taken pains to ensure that I use a consistent handle everywhere, so for them to arbitrarily say that isn't real just doesn't feel fair. We'll see how much longer I hold on to my account. But in the event, I'm building a business case around 1) number of other sites using my handle 2)search results using my handle and 3) not violating any of the other indicators above.-
