I am certain that this is not a general issue affecting all users. Every email that we send to you contains an unsubscribe link at the bottom to easily unsubscribe from that email type. In addition. we provide a further link you can easily use to unsubscribe from any or all of the notifications that we send. If either of these links are not working, please send the details to help@geni.com so we can correct this.

If you are using a google for domains JID you will have to make changes to your domain name's DNS to make this work, as per google. Please see the following article posted by google on how to fix your domain.

This biggest feature missing for me is the ability to have private conversations with users. This feature may remove the need for a separate email ticketing system.

Not yet, but this is the plan. Right now you can always search for a surname and view results from other trees, and message users on other trees for research and collaboration purposes.
