Hi Marc,
Interesting request -- thanks for making it. This isn't a common request so, unfortunately, we're not planning on changing the length of comments. Instead, we suggest that your users either (1) leave multiple comments or (2) create wiki pages and point people there.
Thanks!
-Ramit
PS--Can you point me to your wiki? I'd be curious what your users are writing about!-

I spoke to the founder of YackPack. Their service has been down for a number of days. They are working on restoring it, but we've removed the YackPack plugin from PBwiki and are working on finding another service for voice chat. With all the urgent work on PBwiki 2.0, this isn't something that's likely to happen tomorrow, but I wanted to keep you updated. As I know more, I'll post it here.

Ok, this helps me understand a little better. Thanks, sraymond and Kevin.
Kevin: We can't really help with fundamentally human issues like that. Yes, technically we could add options, but you see how quickly the amount of choices and options add up.
In fact, David (PBwiki CEO) and I were chatting about this the other day (another similar case). He was surprised that people didn't want their email addresses to be shown. In his words, "Don't you want to know who made the edit?"
Because this feedback is so uncommon, we're not planning on making any changes for this any time soon. But with both of your comments, it is something we're thinking about.
Thanks again.

Hi Kevin,
Your users will be able to see each others' email addresses. The way we built it, anyone who's trusted enough to be a contributor is trusted enough to have their contact information shown to other logged-in users.
I'm interested though -- why would you not want contributors to see others contributors' information?
Ramit Sethi replied on March 03, 2008 20:51 to the question "Managing Users" in PBwiki:
This is a really tough one. We have users who want more control over who sees their wiki, so PBwiki Accounts are a natural fit for them. Usernames/passwords are pretty standard online.
But for some people, they value simplicity -- especially educators, whose students often don't have email addresses.
Offering both as a choice is very confusing, which has led to many of the login-related questions you see here. We're trying to simplify this, so I really appreciate your thoughts.
No matter what solution we come up with, we'll test it in beta and make it as simple as possible.
Ramit Sethi replied on March 03, 2008 20:27 to the question "Managing Users" in PBwiki:
Hi sraymond,
We're working on improving user management right now. The first step is transitioning most/all users to PBwiki Accounts (which we're doing).
Next will be making managing those users easier. PBwiki 2.0 does a better job of this, and we have a roadmap for even improving upon that.
We know this is something we need to improve, so please stay tuned for interface improvements.
Ramit Sethi replied on March 03, 2008 16:36 to the question "3rd grade wiki users and email addresses????" in PBwiki:
bjforney: We're working on this issue right now. We know that educators have different login needs than businesses, so we're holding an online focus group/forum tonight to chat with educators and hear what exactly they're looking for.
Stay tuned -- we want to get this right, and we'll keep you updated.
