deleteme asked a question in Apple on November 19, 2009 18:03:
Any experiences with upgrading a Macbook Pro with an SSD?I'm looking to purchase a newer model 15" Macbook Pro and am interested in installing an Solid State Drive (SSD) in it. I've read some reports that some SSDs do not work well with the Macbook Pro's.
Has anybody done this? How did it work out? What are the models of the MBP and SSD?-

* wuala isn't uploading anything

Does file versioning consume my available storage space?if not, can file versioning be disabled?

With the latest update, clearing the cache does nothing. Also, I am unable to upload any new files http://cocodev.com/screenshots/matt/c... – deleteme, on August 19, 2009 16:05

deleteme replied on March 25, 2009 23:53 to the idea "Mimic Dropbox's User Interface" in Wuala:
The only reason I use Wuala is because I trust the infrastructure to reliably and securely back up and archive my data. I wish I could do away with the interface altogether and just use the mounted drive, but I've found it to be buggy. For my uses, the Java interface is useless and it seems like it's trying to reinvent the wheel. I would prefer to stick with Finder for my file management tasks.
Dropbox has the usability down. The application is a complete pleasure to use, but the file syncing feature means I _can not_ use it. (Due to disc space problems...)-

My problem isn't occurring any more. Several things happened that may have fixed it.
* I had a large queue of files that I was trying to upload. I clicked the 'Stop All' button in the Upload window, and it locked up Wuala. (I did this a few times).
* I logged out and back in. I think this might actually be responsible for fixing my problem.
Wuala had been running for a few days fine. Today I restarted it to allow it to get the Monday update. So far so good.
I should also note that the largue queue of files is still uploading, and I am accumulating online time. :)

Actually, the problem isn't fixed. When I was able to get the interface to open, I was unable to download anything.
Also, on another machine, I made changes to files and directories, uploaded some new stuff, and the changes weren't reflected on the PC.
It seems like the PC isn't connected to the network. I tried installing Wuala again over this installation, and nothing changed.

Thanks for your quick reply nmat!
Wuala is running fine.
I rebooted again and immediately launched Firefox 3.1 b2, closed existing tabs of dromaeo.com, then visited wua.la. It locked up Firefox.
Then I opened up Firefox 3.0.4 and visited wua.la. It didn't crash my browser, and I noticed that the big red button being updated by Java (I think that's what is doing it...). When I clicked the button, the Wuala interface opened immediately. :)
I should note that I have 'Start Wuala when I start my computer' checked. So, Wuala may have been running properly when I rebooted that second time, and it may have not been fixed by launching from the website.
To be thorough, I'll document how how it started:
When I got home today I checked on Wuala to check my online time and how much storage I earned. The Wuala interface wouldn't open up. I killed the running processes associated with Java and AVG (virus scanning software tends to muck with things), and Wuala still wouldn't open up. I rebooted, and I still had the same problem. That was when I made the post above.
If I encounter this problem again, I will post to this message thread again.
Thanks Again! – deleteme, on December 13, 2008 03:38
deleteme reported a problem in Wuala on December 13, 2008 03:09:
Wuala doesn't delete fragments if you stop trading space?Hello,
I was previously trading 1 GB space on a Macbook Pro with OSX 10.5, but disabled that as I am trying to reclaim disk space. (I am trying to let an old Windows PC trade 100 GB instead). It appears that Wuala did not delete any of the fragments that were being stored on my Macbook Pro when I disabled trading my disk space.

I have two questions:
1) Is it safe to delete any files in the Wuala Application Support Folder? How can I manually delete these files to free up disk space?
2) Why is Wuala using exactly twice the amount of disk space I allocated to trade? If this is the way it functions normally, it's pretty misleading, and can lead to big problems.
Thanks

Wuala fails to open on a PC with Windows XPHello,
I'm running a copy of Wuala on an old Windows XP PC to donate some space. When I try open Wuala, it doesn't open the interface.
The only thing that happens is javaw.exe appears as a process, and a non-interactive system tray icon appears. However, if I do hover over it a tooltip appears.
It reports that I am online, but for some reason I don't trust it. When I view the tooltip, it never displays any traffic occurring.
Also, filesystem integration doesn't seem to be working while it's in this state either.

Processes Tab of Windows Task Manager
I really hope that Wuala is running in some form, as I'd hate to have my online time be penalized for this! Could my data be deleted from the service?
