Yes, I really wanted to find this app useful, but I use my computer for both work and personal tasks. In particular, general productivity apps like Office (Word, Outlook). Further data on the URL would also be useful for tagging sites like Wikipedia. But mainly I have hours logged in Word and Outlook and no way to tell what I was doing. This makes my data pretty much useless. I look forward to returning (even *paying*) when I can accurately tag my usage. Thanks.-

Bump. Really need to be able to tag based on window title as well as application. I use putty to connect to local servers for work and remote servers for non-work.
As a clarification to this, it would be useful to be able to specifiy a regex for the title as often the title will be changed during a single session (e.g. for unix shell current directory).

ppgs, I have to disagree with you.
Disk space is cheap. Bandwidth is relatively cheap. If the users want a feature, and RescueTime has the technical ability to deliver that feature, then nothing else should get in the way of adding that feature.
It would probably be more expensive in the long term to build (and maintain) a client side UI (both Mac & PC) to do tagging locally, than it would be to just store all the data on the servers and have 1 unified UI to add tags from.

Same request for me. I do not understand the point in Rescue Time to upload all window title information (in plain English: "file names"), if this information is made un-available in the dashboard, just sitting on Rescue Time's servers.
But for privacy issues, it is definitely better that all the tagging of files and folders is done locally on the machine by the Rescue Time Data Collector.
Instead of uploading
app_name: Photoshop
window_title: 'TopSecretClient_HomePageComp_01.psd'
then to upload
app_name: Photoshop
window_title: 'Work' (< - tags defined locally on the machine)
That would also reduce the amount of data uploaded to Rescue Time's servers, therefore reducing its costs (or allowing for more users for the same amount of servers).-

This kind of "granularity" would obviously extend the usefulness of RescueTime tremendously. The possibility of being able to assign tags based solely on the app being used, OR attributes like text patterns in the name of the data file the app is working with at the time, OR the window title of an application would be fantastic. We're asking the world from these guys, but hey, they may be able to deliver -- go, guys, go.....
