If you had a nice cut and paste code with icon like del.icio.us and Diigo both have for adding a bookmarking link to websites, I'd put it on mine. I can't find anything like that, though, and just posted a question about it.
If you want more share links out there pointed to Ma.gnolia, make it easier!

I do hope that when you get this search engine replacement in, it'll restore some of the Simpy magic I lost when I made the jump to Ma.gnolia. :-) – Pikadude No. 1, on July 15, 2008 05:41

Todd,
I get what you're saying, and completely agree. We need to get out of the business of asking for third-party passwords, ESPECIALLY the ones that are tied to email.
We're operating under high load right now, engineering-wise. Can you recommend any libraries, widgets, or online services that would help us make this change (to OAuth or something similar) more easily?
A comment on the question "Asking for 3rd party passwords" in SlideShare:
Amit, I think you're missing the point. By telling your users that it's perfectly acceptable for them to divulge the passwords for their email accounts on a third-party website like Slideshare, you are effectively teaching them how to be phished. I'd be interested in hearing how your internal discussions are going, particularly in light of the fact that all three providers that you are slurping from (GMail, Hotmail and Yahoo Mail) offer secure authorization now. See Flickr's example of how to do this the *right* way: http://www.flickr.com/import/people/ – adactio, on July 08, 2008 13:13
A comment on the question "How do I find my blog's API Endpoint?" in Ma.gnolia:
Textpattern's XML-RPC support is designed to match up more closely with the Movable Type API. The XML-RPC has also been quite substantially improved recently, and will be a fully fledged component in TXP 4.0.7 -- but it's not quite right to say that it's not a more modern blog API :-) A Textpattern "section" is equivalent to a "blog" in the Movable Type sense. – Rocketpilot, on July 04, 2008 06:31
A comment on the problem "Wiki traps" in Ma.gnolia:
Okay, but you still need to provide some indication of that in the wiki, or simply delete the reported pages. – Pikadude No. 1, on June 29, 2008 00:53

Chris Pallé replied on May 31, 2008 13:09 to the idea "Make it Easier to Give Thanks" in Ma.gnolia:
Greg, true to an extent, but I don't know about "groups as... categorization." Groups add to the community and require work by the moderators. So, they're *more* than categories. For instance, good groups have attentive moderators who communicate with the members and weed out unrelated bookmarks. So, they should be Thanked as well. My guess is they would rather the Thanks be given to their community as a whole, though.
As for individuals, members can get a glance at how each other interact; that is, are they just dumping bookmarks (like the mistake I made once) or really adding value. Right now, my guess is that we don't see more thanks because it is so difficult to do so. To your point, Greg, I almost always add a bookmark to a group for categorization, but my *primary* intent is to share and add value to the group.
