rash-trash started following the problem "Why would previously marked as read messages be suddenly unread when I haven't even gone into that folder?" in Mozilla.

For some reason, in the past two weeks, iPhoto stopped opening up when I connect my iPhone to my computer. It does open up itunes and synch my phone, but even when I open iPhoto, I cannot find my iPhone and can't seem to import my photos.
I have tried what @roadstar recommends, opening Image Capture, but Image Capture also does not see my iphone. It only shows my scanner.
What's the deal? I have about 60 photos I want to put on my computer. Anyone else suddenly start having this problem?

There is a simple way to get your IPhone pics on your computer and bypass ITunes and IPhoto. Apple includes a great program called Image Capture on all Macs. Open up the program and it will see the IPhone or any camera like device and it will allow you to download any or all of them, where to put them and if you would like them deleted off the device when you are through. It also creates great icons for each photo for ease finding them.

It would appear that the squeaking is quite irritating to customers. Why hasn't a Timbuk2 employee responded with a realistic solution to the problem besides returning the product for repairs or WD40? What type of repair can be performed when one ships it back that can't be done at one's own home ??

A comment on the question "What's the best way to get my photos from the iPhone to Flickr?" in Apple:
This is a frustrating workflow and something that Apple really needs to handle better. As a start, they need to stop stripping the exif data.
You may also want to use Image Capture rather than iPhoto to manage your pictures coming from the phone since iPhoto is not friendly about getting at the files. (This comes into play if you initially email from the phone and then later use Flickr's Replace function to put the bigger version of the file up). – MetaGrrrl, on May 27, 2008 00:13

Thank you so much Brendon! I love Macs but iPhoto is the one application where I understand the venom they can generate among detractors about the computer assuming you want things done another way than you do. iPhoto doesn't guess right about me at all and I feel locked in and very angry every time I have to use it. It makes me like Apple less because it seems like it's trying to get between me and my data. Great to know about Image Capture, which sounds like it's about getting the files not about "managing" them. Flickr is my photo album, so iPhoto is not the app for me.
Now if we could just get the iPhone to email exif information... ;) – MetaGrrrl, on May 27, 2008 00:06

But on the Mac this means that the only way to then work with those images is in iPhoto.
To get at the original files you can control-click on iPhoto Library and select "View Package Contents". – MetaGrrrl, on May 26, 2008 23:54

Check geticeweasel.org, heh. And like I said, you can use seamonkey for all that integration. – Thomas, on May 22, 2008 03:58

Iceweasel isn't a joke, it's the name for Firefox in linux distributions that do customization. They don't infringe upon the trademark that way. – Thomas, on May 20, 2008 00:43
