A comment on the question "Stemming the potential flood of dirge" in Noticings:
Something I mentioned to Tom Armitage at one point was that marking a picture as a favourite on Flickr could become meaningful. It has its own issues, but I like the idea of reusing features that already exist. – Paul Mison, on November 02, 2009 18:13

Some ideas for seasonal bonusesI was walking through piles of leaves today thinking about ideas for bonuses once "lost" is over, and it occured to me that some sort of "first person in a neighbourhood to spot flowers" bonus in the spring would be nice (although of course a bit northern-hemisphere temperate zone centric). I suppose the same could be done for snow, not that people seem to need encouragement to photograph that.
Flowers might also be good because I can imagine the long nights will get in the way of photo taking for some of us (again with the northern hemisphere centricity!). Maybe there's a better idea out there, though.
Paul Mison replied on October 20, 2009 15:08 to the idea "How about a map on the player profile pages?" in Noticings:
It's definitely possible to see the borders of Flickr's areas: see Tom Taylor's Boundaries page. It's probably easier still if the player has machine tags switched on, because then you can do it entirely from Flickr.

Show number of photos for the weekIn the list of top scorers for the week, it'd be nice to see the number of photos taken in that week as well. Nobody's flooding noticings with lots of photos every day, but it might help to encourage a few good ones rather than brute force.
I've just noticed there's a similar thread about "stemming the dirge", but this might be a relatively quick fix for the front page, rather than needing the complexity of some sort of throttling. It also lets people make up their own minds (does 400/10 look better than 240/4? Perhaps it depends.)
Paul Mison replied on June 17, 2009 22:54 to the idea "Some thoughts on Flickr integration" in Dopplr:
There is a tag you can add so that photos show up, no matter what their date taken is. It's a "machine tag", which means it won't show up in the sidebar on Flickr, but it will make the photos appear on Dopplr. The format is dopplr:trip=id, where the ID is the numeric part at the end of the trip's URL at Dopplr; for example, my trip to San Francisco has photos with dopplr:trip=585519.
I also run a third-party site called snaptrip which aims to help add these Dopplr machine tags to photos on Flickr. Unfortunately for your particular case, it currently only supports date taken searches, and it sounds like your photos have lost that metadata.
I'm working on adding support for tagging based on sets and (possibly) tags, and if I do I'll let you know. The idea of showing albums for a trip based on photos in multiple people's accounts is a good one, and I might see what I can do about that, too, even though as a third party site it might not be quite as handy as having it built-in.

Paul Mison replied on December 04, 2008 15:51 to the question "Are there any plans for "update" or "delete" actions in the API?" in Tumblr:
From the Tumblr staff blog:
"Edit and delete posts"
I haven't had a chance to check they work yet, but I'm hopeful that this (along with the other changes mentioned in the post) will let me do what I want.
A comment on the question "is there a way to add past trips?" in Dopplr:
I managed to add a trip in 1990, but I did have to enter the dates manually; the dropdown in the date widget won't go back that far usually. However, it does seem to work. – Paul Mison, on October 07, 2008 14:39
A comment on the question "Is there a way to edit past trips, e.g. the dates?" in Dopplr:
Having said that I wasn't sure if I cared, I've gone ahead and written an app: snaptrip shows you a list of past trips and allows you to view and edit Flickr photos that coincide with them. Hopefully this is going to help you with managing your past trips. – Paul Mison, on September 22, 2008 16:22
Paul Mison replied on September 22, 2008 16:19 to the idea "Geotag Flickr Photos Taken On Trips" in Dopplr:
I've written a third-party website called snaptrip that allows you to add a location, based on your trip, to Flickr photos taken on the same dates as a Dopplr trip. I'm intending to expand that to allow more searching options, but for now, it's a start.
There's also recently been an add-on to the Flickr uploader, called dopplradr (more here) which does similar things, but at upload time.
Hopefully one or other of these will be useful.-

Are you suggesting an API-based third party site? Personally I don't think I care enough, but it should be possible. Dopplr are aware that there are possibilities for the site: see http://getsatisfaction.com/dopplr/top... – Paul Mison, on August 14, 2008 07:31
Paul Mison asked a question in Tumblr on August 13, 2008 14:24:
Are there any plans for "update" or "delete" actions in the API?The API has lovely "read" and "write" actions, but it's not possible to edit or remove existing posts. Is there any chance of an "update" or "delete" action to allow you to do this?
