I know of one case like this where things turned out okay, although the entire process took 10 days. I hope in your case there is a happy ending as well.
Marcy replied on June 23, 2008 15:08 to the question "How do I politely ask a user if I can have their username?" in Twitter:
The main hurdle I see is that there's no way to directly contact the occupant of the username. In many cases, it's an 'abandoned' account; someone just didn't take to Twitter like some people do. Then, they've probably got their notices going to a 'dummy' spam account and never see that they've been asked questions. *sigh*
I think I'm going to try a support request with Twitter, but I'm not holding my breath. I think it'd be cool if social sites such as these had a 'new member' period of, for example, 30 days. Your new account expires after 30 days unless you manually continue it within your account settings, profile, or other method. That would automatically purge the inactive and abandoned accounts.

I have tried the "Map Correction Fix" that Rob Lazzurs mentioned. I can assure you that it does NOT work on a One 3rd edition (namely Mine).
As far as Customer Service is concerned, whomever gave TomTom an award must be on crack. I purchased the Traffic Receiver Antenna gizmo online last week and realized I could not use it where I live and drive. I immediately called the customer service number and was on hold for more than one hour. I spoke with the cs rep who after several more "hold Periods" gave me a reference number (080611-008309) and forwarded me to yet another department where I remained on hold for another hour before being told that this rep had sent a message to ?? canceling the order. All this took place the day before the item was shipped. Needless to say, the order was not stopped and was received by me. Two e-mails asking for the proper procedure for returning the item 8/19/08 have so far gone unanswered. To add insult to injury, now my One 3rd tells me that "No Route Found" when trying to go to one of my favorites.

Hello Jeremy, If you press on your screen to take you to the menu then press on "Map corrections" and then "Correction preferences" you will be able to choose to use your own corrections and corrections not verified by TomTom or the map vendor. I hope this solves your issues, however if not then please start a new topic. I do agree we don't get everything, it is a big world! However we are getting better every day and with your help I hope we can get your new area covered soon. – Rob Lazzurs, on June 22, 2008 11:50

Hello Mark, As a TomTom employee of course I could be getting a discounted unit but I have had a TomTom since the TomTom GO 300 launched in the UK (I think about 4 years ago now) and I have loved every minute of using it. Sure once it took me to the wrong Donnington and some times it does not know that a street is one way but over all the device is great and now I am working at TomTom I know just how hard everyone is working to make them better every day. If you have not already seen it have a good search for TomTom HD, this is where things get really useful :). Hope you have fun with your TomTom! – Rob Lazzurs, on June 22, 2008 11:42

Hello Dan, Please to contact TomTom customer service with your proof of purchase and they will be able to replace your unit. If you have any issues at all with this please contact me back on this website. Sorry I did not see this sooner, I hope we can get you back on the road with TomTom soon, I know I could not live without mine for long! – Rob Lazzurs, on June 22, 2008 11:39

I just downloaded the most recent updates and maps for my brand new tomtom. Unfortunately they are at least 3 years behind on their maps. I apparently live in a forest according to their maps. Several major roads are not included on their "updated" maps, so their directions send me out of the way to get around town. Even my own personal updates have to be "verified" by tomtom before I can use them on my own map. Will a call to customer service do me any good, or am I stuck with a uselss (expensive) product?

Check out Smirk for possible integrationOur friends down the street at Particle (Ericson de Jesus & team) just launched Smirk, a product that would be a great fit to integrate with Get Satisfaction. Users create short (~5 sec) video avatars for a bunch of different moods, and the avatars show up when a mood is selected. Could be a fun addition for the Satisfactometer.

I was going to bring back my !@#$ garmin nuvi and return it for a hopefully less @ tomtom. My nuvi misses turns and is wrong A LOT. I once had a tomtom that I returned because it did not have text2speech. But neither does my current disappointing garmin. I was on hold with garmin for 80 minutes and I called tomtom and was immediately connected. At this moment I do not know aht choice to make? I know that the mio SUCKS and the garmin nuvi 200 SUCKS too! But I do not have any tomtom experience.

Oh no! :-s you all seem to be saying that you have to be polite in order to get a response from facebook! frankly I don't see why I should be- I've done NOTHING wrong and have had noo warning that my account would be disabled! they reckon i have to be part of a high school network, but I've never had a network [just like a billion other people!]
I'm not having this.
I've sent them a rather pressing email and am planning on carrying on doing that if I don't get a reply within the next week!haha
heres my email do you think it's too rude? do you think I'll get a reply?or even get my account reactivated??
---------------------------
My account has been disabled because I have not joined a high school network.
However, I have never belonged to any network, ever since I joined facebook, many, many months ago- and have NEVER had any sort warning from Facebook that this might mean my account would be disabled! I feel very angry as if I had been made aware that belonging to 'no network' [just like many other users on 'facebook', and as something very easy to do] meant I would consequuently lose my account, I would most certainly have joined one.
I therefore feel disabling my account so suddenly and arbitrarily as an apparant punishment for something I did not even know I was doing wrong, is very harsh and drastic behaviour especially for a 'social networking site' created for use by general, ordinary people. Perhaps such drastic behaviour should be made clearer in your 'Terms of Use', as I am sure you are aware your youngest users are 13 years old?
I would like my account back as soon as possible, and if it is so vital, I will gladly join a network, but please give me every opportunity to do this!
In future I suggest you are curteous enough to send your members due warning that their account will be disabled, and the precise reason why- in order to allow them to do something about it.

WOW. I'm so glad I found this page! At about 6 AM this morning, I logged into my Facebook account after receiving a message from my friend (I enabled e-mail notifications). I checked her message, clicked "Home", when my browser all of a sudden said "Loading Error". So I tried again, twice. After finally getting back to my Home page, I clicked on "Profile", and again, loading error. So I clicked refresh, which took me to the login screen. After trying to log in, it gave me the "Account Disabled" message.
I had to stop trying to login because I had school (actually, today was my last day of high school, strangely enough). I tried again about half an hour ago, and I'm still locked out of Facebook. I saw the other Satisfaction page with the e-mail addresses, and have e-mailed a very polite and detailed message to each of the three.
I didn't do anything to warrant the disabling of my account. Seriously. In fact, lately I haven't really been using it all that much, except to discuss with my friends our plans for prom. I thought it was weird when Wikipedia (haha) and other sites I was using to study for my Physics final exam were loading quickly, but not Facebook. I initially thought it was a glitch of some kind, but apparently it is not.
This is really frustrating, considering that all of the photos I have posted between the start of my Junior year to now, the end of my Senior, year are gone, and that all of the friends I have made and people I have met are now out of reach. The latter is especially frustrating as college and an all-summer trip to Japan are right around the corner. I NEED my Facebook account this summer!
I've been reading through the posts made here, and am wondering if I'd have a good chance of getting my account back. I've read that there have been people who got their account back after e-mailing multiple times. Does that really work? Is that something I should try? I imagine that this cannot be resolved so quickly, but I should try to appeal it, right?

i recently found out that my account had been disabled. this made me incredibly upset angry and sad all at the same time. i am still in highschool and for me facebook is extremely pivital. not only because everyone has one, but it was a place where i could find, keep, and stay in touch with my friends and people that i don't get to see everyday. this is really disheartening 4 me because i really don't want to have 2 start over......... and since my account was disabled WITHOUT WARNING who knows if i'd want 2 !!!!!
FACEBOOK REALLY NEEDS 2 FIGURE OUT A WAY 2 FIX THIS PROBLEM
BECAUSE INNOCENT PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF AND ALL YOU OTHERS SHOULDN'T B ACCUSED OF SOMETHING THAT WE PROBABLY HAD NO CONTROL OVER
FACEBBOK NEEDS 2 HANDLE THEIR INSECURITY OR NON SECURITY W/ SPAMMERS WITHOUT BLAMING THE PEOPLE WHO "SEEM" LIKE THEY "MIGHT" BE A SPAMMER !!!!!!!!!!!!
