A comment on the question "What happens if I hit a Twitter limit?" in Twitter:
Let me clarify. This problem commenced almost a month ago. Twitter limit, when I had about 600 I was following, 700 that were following me. Said the ratio was the problem. I started to unfollow people. Went down to about 400. Still can't follow more. Emailed Twitter 3.5 weeks ago. No reply. Emailed them again 2 weeks ago, and about 5 days ago. Still no reply. So I thought 'oh maybe I just need to unfollow more' So in the last few days I unfollowed almost 300 more people, now down to just under 100 I'm following, with still over 650 that are following me (obviously I lost followers because I was unfollowing so many). And still can't follow anyone. And I'm about to give up on twitter as this kind of renders the whole point of twitter for me useless. My emails were pretty spaced out imo and somewhat reasonable in view that I didn't get a reply whatsoever. I only just found out about getsatisfaction, otherwise I would have posted here instead! – HKW, on August 29, 2008 23:14

When did you do this? I think it takes a day or so to take effect, and 3 e-mails in one day sounds like starting 3 different support tickets, which is sure to annoy them more than inspire them to want to help you. – Thomas, on August 29, 2008 23:10

What is twitter doing about this?
I thought it was a ratio thing that's limiting. I have almost 700 followers. I was not able to follow more. I thought if I unfollow people that would help. But now I have unfollowed almost everyone, under 100 I'm following, including people who I said I'm following back, and I still can't follow more!!!
This is extremely frustrating, when I have emailed Twitter support 3 times, with no response. The whole concept is flawed in the first place.
If this continues I am sure plenty of people will stop using twitter.
Would appreciate if you guys can look into this for me. Twitter username is HongKongWong.

I've got the same problem. I do unfollow often. I have over 600 followers, under 100 i'm following. emailed twitter support 3 times over the last 3 weeks. NO REPLY.
I am sure it was an automatic flag, but it's terrible support like that which makes me want to write a blog post to thousands telling them that i was wrong to have encouraged twitter use in the first place.

Thanks for stepping in mdy, and apologies for the delay guys. Our support ticketing system is a little broken (we're fixing it) AND we're also inundated with requests, all of this resulting in delays in responding snappily to all tickets.
I have fixed the follow limit problem for accounts:
@mikeontv
@slamonline
you wont be able to follow immediately, it will be more like 24 hours. If you're still not able to follow in 24 hours, send me an @reply (@crystal) and I will look into it for you.
I've replied to and closed both of your support tickets. If you have other open tickets regarding the same topic, please feel free to close them yourselves.
thanks!
crystal

Hi MikeonTV. Hope you don't mind this follow-up question -- did you mean you don't receive a confirmation email? Or did you mean that you don't get a reply from support even after you receive a confirmation email?
I ask because I know from other threads that some ISPs classify mail from Twitter as spam and either put the email in the spam folder, or they don't deliver the email at all (sbcglobal being one example of the latter).

Hello. In case you haven't done so yet, please consider logging a support ticket at http://twitter.com/help
You will receive an automatically generated email to confirm that your support issue was received. The email will indicate the ticket number assigned to your issue, and will have a link where you can view the status of your ticket.
Someone from support usually responds within 3 to 5 working days.

My personal project http://tweet2sms.com is taking beta testers at the moment, so if you are in Australia drop me a line and I will see if we can set you up.

I have the *exact* same problem. I feel like all the fun has been taken out of Twitter. Half of what got me into Twitter has all of a sudden been taken away. Please help.

How is this different than ping.fmIt just seems like a dumb down clone of Ping.FM. Nothing new has been brought to the table as far as I can see.

greengo:
In the UK, O2 seems to be the only carrier which (still) treats Twitter's international Isle of Man number as an inland UK number.
Two acquaintances on different O2 tariffs (one with SMS 'flatrate', one on prepaid) have their SMS to Twitter charged at the expected inland rate.
I don't know how long O2 will hold out - but I'm sure they could gain customers by advertising their Twitter-friendly attitude. Perhaps O2 are even Twitter's UK negotiation partner for restoring SMS delivery to Twitter users?
A comment on the discussion "Changes for SMS users: the good news and the bad" in Twitter:
If you're willing to pay to receive Twitter sms and you're open to using a third-party service, there are a couple already up and running that work in the UK and do not charge a premium fee for posting Twitter updates via sms. See http://gsfn.us/t/kmw#reply_577374 for details – mdy, on August 26, 2008 10:53

I was just getting into using Twitter and really enjoying it. Although it was costing me a premium to send Tweets in*, I felt the service was worth the somewhat extortionate fee applied by the network.
However, without the SMS option, Twitter loses much of what makes it special and I'm fairly sure that my usage will fall off a cliff. I would certainly consider a premium package but I would much rather that UK SMS operators brought their pricing down to a more reasonable level.
*holds breath*
* I'm in the UK and the 3 network I'm on charges me 25p per message because it treats the Twitter number as international due to its Isle of Man location!
João replied on August 25, 2008 13:03 to the problem "Google Adsense does not show up." in Tumblr:
Hmmm...for some reason it works now...i'm not sure what i had done wrong but i really really appreciate your help and how fast you were to assist me.
What i did was: Since i had tried to put the ads in different scopes of the html with no luck and there were ads on other tumblelogs i decided to create a new ad on google adsense and see if the new one worked. It did. Then i tried again with the one that wasnt working and it finally worked.
The only thing i can think of is that maybe i hadnt copied the code right and then moved it around the html...
Thanks
