I have noticed that Gawker's recent redesign is massively resource-intensive on my computer. I too am running Firefox on a G4 and having multiple tabs open to Gawker sites pins my CPU and sucks up memory like no other non-video sites. Whatever Gawker's doing, it's a huge computational mess unless you've got the latest and greatest equipment.

Pezwhore's fix SEEMS like it should work, but doesn't for me. I'm deeply unhappy with Gawker's decision to cross-pollinate with Facebook - it seems like a security rape just waiting to happen.
