Thanks for the response Amir!
And I agree with Anam. If you bring back this feature in some capacity, could it be an additional tab to go along with "Plurk" and "Search"? That would put it in the forefront for users, and hopefully give it more attention.
I loved the public timeline. I look forward to its return!

There's another more in-depth thread related to this question here:

Please check it out, and indicate if you have this problem if you want to get "Interesting Plurkers" back!

And so we watch this concern simply drift down the line on GetSatisfaction...
Developers of Plurk, do you have any intent to bring back "Interesting Plurkers"? Do our concerns seem valid to you or not?
Amir left his last response a month ago, indicating we should use the new "Search" feature that, while useful, does not accomplish the same thing "Interesting Plurkers" did. But no other communication since...

Yup, that's the way it's feeling. Plurk is trying to "succeed" like Twitter has, rather than focusing on user input and response to keep the product unique but functional. – Colin R., on June 19, 2009 21:14
A comment on the problem "interesting plurkers gone" in Plurk:
It does appear that way...
According to Amir's first response, the company says "this solves the problem". Which isn't really true, because it doesn't address the heart of the issue.
I guess we can just keep bumping this until we get another (perhaps more definitive?) response. – Colin R., on June 17, 2009 06:06

Colin R. shared an idea in Plurk on June 12, 2009 22:15:
Karma should decrease at the same rate as it increases...Currently, karma decreases very rapidly due to lack of activity, seemingly at the same rate no matter how much karma you have.
Since karma increases more slowly as you go up, I think it should also decrease at the same rate during periods of inactivity. That way, users who have higher karma (and therefore have been participating on Plurk for a longer, more consistent period of time) are not "punished" as much as those with less karma.
Please comment and add your thoughts on this idea!

Well, that's cool!
I tried installing the script, and it certainly works as advertised... Couple questions tho:
a) Why isn't this functionality just built right into Plurk? Having to install a third-party script is not exactly convenient...or always trustworthy from a user's standpoint...
b) If Plurk is recommending the use a third-party script as an option, is this advertised anywhere (other than the posted link) so people can actually find it?
That is all. Meanwhile, I am now intrigued by the concept of GreaseMonkey...-

One gets the feeling Plurk is following along with what they're seeing is making other social media sites successful and interesting (i.e. Twitter).
This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but cutting off your nose to spite your face isn't exactly the best idea in the long run. What makes Plurk unique is what makes Plurk unique, and those features are what make users stick around in the first place.
Also, their customer service skills could use some improving. One wonders why Plurkbuddy exists when it's barely used to communicate with users in the first place... – Colin R., on June 09, 2009 04:08-

Colin R. replied on June 07, 2009 17:54 to the question "Can you already Plurk via SMS?" in Plurk:
Hi Lance,
You can't Plurk via SMS yet. Why it's listed in their Terms of Service as a possibility... Who knows...
Anyway, doesn't mean you can't do it at all, but you'll need a third-party web app. You may want to check out Ping.fm. You CAN post to it via SMS (among other things), and it lets you update multiple social networks at once. I use it all the time, and it works like a charm!
Only downside is you can't respond to Plurks that way, you can only post. But still, better than nothing!

Jawker's nailed it. Plurk has successfully closed off users from finding one another on-the-fly.
I'm not interested in searching for people specifically. I want to look at posts in real-time, and then respond to or fan those users that are making posts of interest to me. – Colin R., on June 07, 2009 17:39

Surprise, surprise. Plurk often comes across more intent on making changes in their interests, rather than their users...
Wish it could be more of, "What do you guys want?" As opposed to, "Here's what we've done, hope you like it!" – Colin R., on June 07, 2009 17:34
