Well when I said "major" build number i meant just the 4. The subsequent numbers are part of the minor build number. But I only have version 3, so I figured I'd download the trial version of the one you have so I know what to output...
If you could send me an example text file so I know the syntax, then it would save me a lot of time (and downloading/installing of MS4).
If you can, send that to adam@adamdoyle.com and I'll see what I can do.

A comment on the question "Cues won't advance" in MediaComplete:
I might try that out for awhile. The only [small] problem with that is that the background behind the logo changes weekly (for the sake of variety). For instance, last week it was an American Flag for Independence Day. Around Christmas, it's something Christmas-related; and in between I cycle through a collection of motion backgrounds. – Adam Doyle, on July 04, 2009 04:16

Oh ok. That works. Becky said she has them in the same script though, so she does have to use a script control. Good idea setting your logo as your background in case mediashout crashes. Wouldn't work for us though because our logo has a relatively subtle motion background. – Adam Doyle, on July 04, 2009 03:57

That's why I'm thinking she has to have a "script control" cue. – Adam Doyle, on July 04, 2009 03:23

OK, but what I don't understand is if your announcements consist of five different cues, how do you get it to go back to the beginning without going into the rest of your script? She said she has the rest of her service after the announcements in the same script file. – Adam Doyle, on July 04, 2009 03:22

As for the "someone probably switched it" thing, I agree. That's definitely the most-likely scenario. – Adam Doyle, on July 04, 2009 03:00

I think she's using v3.5 (unless that was a minor build number rather than the major build number), so I think you have to have a "script control" cue. Although, I don't have my mediashout computer with me, so I can't double-check. – Adam Doyle, on July 04, 2009 02:59
Adam Doyle replied on July 04, 2009 02:51 to the question "Unable to Play an M4A File" in MediaComplete:
I forgot to mention: If it's just m4a audio: iTunes will actually convert it to MP3 for you. I've done it before with stuff I've downloaded from iTunes. If I remember right, you just drop it into your library, right-click the file and left-click "convert to mp3."
I don't normally recommend people use iTunes (it's not very good software) but if you're used to it, then at least it's a familiar interface.
Adam Doyle replied on July 04, 2009 02:43 to the question "Unable to Play an M4A File" in MediaComplete:
The M4A container supports audio, video, or both. Is your file audio or video?
What I've discovered so far is that apparently you have to find an MPEG-4 Part-14 DirectShow filter to get M4A playback directly in mediashout without conversion. The K-Lite Codec Pack doesn't appear to include it (based on looking at their website). Here's a $7.95 directshow filter that should do the trick. I would download the trial first if you plan on going that route just to make sure it works.
The other option would be to just convert the files to a format you do have installed. My personal (and free) choice is MediaCoder.
I tested this in MediaCoder the following ways:
1. M4A audio to MP3 audio - worked
2. M4A video to H.264 video - worked
3. M4A video to XviD video - worked
So that might be worth a try as well.
Good Luck

You may have already done this, but if you haven't, make sure they're still set to advance at "End of FG." Here's how (from the top of my head, so it may not be the exact same - I don't have v3 installed at home):
1. Right-Click the Cue and click "properties" (it might be "cue properties" - not sure)
2. Make sure the dropdown box on the right side (I think it says "Advance:" above it) says "End of FG" for your videos and "Timed" for your static cues.
If it still doesn't auto-advance after that, you've got bigger problems. Let me know if you can't find one of the things I mentioned (because it might not be exactly where I described it to be) – Adam Doyle, on July 04, 2009 02:21

Thanks for your input! Is there a good one you'd recommend? I mean ours was only $30 but I figured since it was D-Link it would've been decent. Is there one you've had good luck with? – Adam Doyle, on July 04, 2009 01:43

Adam Doyle asked a question in MediaComplete on July 03, 2009 02:26:
KVM Switch problems?Does anyone have any ideas about why our cheapo non-powered D-Link KVM switch causes the output's brightness/signal to be cut nearly in half? I would understand this happening with a splitter - but for this to happen with a simple switch doesn't make sense. Any thoughts?
