Hi Markus,

We are completely on board with you contacting the owners of the various software lists that available for free on the interwebs. We try to use the forum as a way to consolidate these lists in a Wiki-type environment where community users can update as they see fit. I personally see great benefit in crowdsourcing information like this and encourage as many people as possible to participate.

That is a great idea but at the moment all forum posts are sent to Twitter via the @thegisforum Twitter account and even there its only limited to the first post. You can, however, see your friend stream so if you are "Friends" with everyone in the thread you will be able to see their activity (this doesn't help if someone new posts to the site). The site currently allows a user to register using their OpenID but unfortunately that is the only other authentication we offer at the moment.

Did you know that there is an API for this website? We would be more than willing to talk more about adding a 3rd party extension! Check out the API here...

Hmmmm...I have had no problems with this and I don't think that other people have either. What browser are you using? I have been primarily using Chrome and IE7 so I'd be interested to see what platform you are on as it might be a time out issue with your browser.

Ben, I think that you will have to login first before you can change your password. Makes sense, right? The system has to know your existing password before you can change it...You can access the "password change" process when you view your profile on the Home tab.
