So sorry for the delayed response. So glad you like the site.

To be sure I understand the problem you were having, were you trying to add a comment to the "Discussion" portion of your profile? (found at the bottom of this page: http://brighterplanet.com/users/lalal...)

If so, when you tried to post a message, what exactly happened? Did you receive an error?

Do you know what browser you were using, including the version number?

Did you have problems submitting anything else on the site?

Nika, we're dedicating the next month to improving the user experience of the carbon footprint calculator. We agree that it's not currently intuitive enough. As you continue to use the site, the more specific feedback you can provide, the better.

In the meantime, let's get you past this hurdle.

1) Click on the green "Your Footprint" tab at the top of the page.

2) Since you want to edit your diet, which falls under "consumables", let's start by clicking on the "Consumables" link (directly adjacent to the green shopping bag icon)

3) Since you haven't told us anything about your diet yet, we assume it's the diet of an Average American. To change this, click on the "Food" link (found just above the text that says "We're assuming you have a typical diet").

4) Now you want to add your own unique diet to your footprint. So click on the little peapod with the plus sign next to it.

5) You can now answer all of the questions, to tell us specifically about your diet.

Jürg, we can't seem to replicate the issue you're describing. See the two screenshots below:

SYD -> MEX: 4.47 tons CO2


MEX -> MIA: 2.29 tons CO2


Can you let me know if you're still seeing this problem on your end?

Agreed, the parenthesis provide NO value in that context. This must be leftover from development / testing. Thanks for the heads-up, we'll remove this on the next deploy.

Couldn't agree more. "Bus patterns" is what happens when your copywriters can't keep up with your developers :) We're in the process of rephrasing all of that language now. I'll be sure to share your feedback with the rest of the team.

Good question.

It sounds like your credit card earns WorldPoints, which as you noted, can be used to purchase offsets from Brighter Planet.

I know that when that program first launched, we would mail an offset certificate which included a code that you could enter, so that the offsets would be tied to your profile. I'll check first thing next week to see if this is still the case.

Will let you know as soon as I have an answer.

Yikes! It appears as though this problem was fixed for the "origin" airport, but not the "destination" airport. We'll have this fixed first thing next week. Sorry about that.
