A comment on the idea "Web accessible files" in Wuala:
If Java version = webstart version: this enables you to view AND store files within Wuala. But you need an account to be able to write or store something. Anonym. access gives you only read access. – Roger, on July 21, 2008 12:39
A comment on the idea "Web accessible files" in Wuala:
I can only guess that the Java version will come with a view-only and (possibly later) with a write access version. The reason for this is that this applet is also meant to enable users who do not have your PW to be able to view your content iff you give them a link (that is as far as I can gather) – Darkstriker, on July 18, 2008 13:50

iTux started following the problem "upload many Files" in Wuala.
A comment on the question "Keep Local Backup option?" in Wuala:
I have a similar situation. My cache limit is 5GB. I had 100MB used and when I clicked "Clear Cache" it turned into 3.5GB (which is the size of my Data folder). Nothing changes when I click again on "Clear Cache". – nmat, on May 18, 2008 00:14

It seem that indeed something has changed. But now there is something else which is unclear: My cache limit is 1GB It says that 800MB are used. When I click clear cache, 0.8GB turns into 2.5Gb (???) If I then close the Options window and reopen it says 2.5GB again. If I Save the options windows, it says 800MB and does the same thing all over... That really has me confused... – Darkstriker, on May 16, 2008 09:07
A comment on the question "Keep Local Backup option?" in Wuala:
There was a bug so the cache wasn't cleared correctly. If all your files are uploaded, you can delete the local2 any time (as long as Wuala is not running). This should have the same effect as clearing the cache in the options, with the difference that clearing the cache doesn't remove files that are not uploaded yet. – Luzius, on May 16, 2008 07:08

Ciao Adi
You are right, that there is no feature "Add folder". The reason for this is that we want to avoid confusion with the option "New folder".
But you can easily upload a complete folder including subfolders by just dragging that folder from your explorer/filesystem into wuala (into the wuala window). This will upload also subfolders recursively.
Hope this helps.

Currently it seems as if _only_ the computer that has initially uploaded a file maintains it, no matter what's uploaded on your account and how "healthy" it is.
This might be changed with anonymous maintenace, where you won't maintain only your files, but the fragments you get from others too. This only would owrk though if the initial upload doesn't go to Caleido but to the P2P network because I doubt that "The Server" can maintain all files in the Wuala network and still be cost efficient! ;-)
nmat replied on May 14, 2008 02:33 to the question "Keep Local Backup option?" in Wuala:
What if we could choose the computer where the maintenance is made?
I'm only saying this because I would like my Desktop computer to maintain all my files. My laptop's drive isn't that big and sometimes I'm at places with limited network traffic :( Or will my desktop download and maintain all the files in need if I erase the wuala folder from my laptop?

Complet Folder UploadHelo guys,
it's not possible to Upload a complet Folder if in this folder exist already one other. I can only Upload Files. Could you please enable this function also when in a folder already exist some folders.
PS: the filesystem-integration is not active from there i wan to upload the complet folder.
Greets Adi

I've reported this in this topic some days ago:
http://getsatisfaction.com/wuala/topi...
@Bugreport: Are you sure about that? So I just have to spread the files for a while before they go to the 'clearable' cache?

A comment on the question "Keep Local Backup option?" in Wuala:
I'd rather not wait for a file to stream where possible. The cache also contains files that I browse, right? My files can get bumped out of the cache if access a lot of other files? I also thought the local backup option would be useful for syncing files. If a file is inserted on one machine, it would definitely be available for quick access on another. Just my 2cents.. – paf0, on May 09, 2008 14:55

Specifically Caleido\Wuala\Data and in there most importantly \Caleido\Wuala\Data\Local2
Data is 3.333GB and Local2 occupies some 3.225GB of that and Meta occupies some 108MB (which is not that much of a problem...)
And Wuala doesn't Upload so i have to assume that all the files have finished uploading (and the program also says that)
I cleared my Cache before checking those numbers.
System Specs:
WinXp SP3
2GB DDR
amdx2 3800+
500gb wd sata
