A comment on the problem "PDF upload browser timeout" in MagCloud:
Just FYI, the main uploader uses a Flash component, and a missing or incompatible version of Flash in the browser can sometimes cause problems. For that reason we have a link on the upload page to the "non-Flash version". The downside of the non-Flash version is the browser will not report upload progress, but if you are having trouble it can sometimes work around a problem. – aefitzhugh, on November 18, 2009 16:24

A comment on the question "How does the subscription service work?" in MagCloud:
We're up to our necks in it right now, and happy to be there :-). Can't provide a specific date, but it should be weeks and not months. – aefitzhugh, on October 09, 2009 23:23

Since my previous post we introduced a standard bulk discount (currently 25% off production cost) for quantities of 20 or more. See our site blog for more info: http://magcloud.com/blog/post/view/72.

aefitzhugh replied on May 15, 2009 15:33 to the question "Can't see how to upload mailing list / Bleed & return label Q" in MagCloud:
Regarding bleed area, it need not be larger, the key is that your content extend *beyond* the trim line, all the way to the outer edge of the bleed. This is how you ensure that the final, trimmed page shows your content all the way to the edge. See an example and some info here.
We can't currently change the return address, but may allow the name to change in the future. For now, you could customize the tagline that is printed at the bottom of the label to include a message. See the issue edit page, set the TagLine right below Description.
Regarding mailing lists, we don't yet support lists, but work on that is in progress. Today you can only send an order to a single destination address. Saving addresses in your address book helps when repeatedly sending orders over time to the same addresses, but we realize this is not practical for large numbers of recipients until we roll out our "push" publishing support. We'll announce this on the site news blog when it's ready.

aefitzhugh replied on April 06, 2009 04:19 to the question "odd-sized pages for CD/DVD covers" in MagCloud:
We only have one specific product type at the moment, so strictly speaking we can't do a booklet of that size. However, you could stack two cd booklets vertically in one of our magazines, and then trim them down to size yourself. You'd end up with one staple in each, and you could add another in each yourself or maybe 1 is enough.
If you try this we'd love to hear and/or see how it comes out!
aefitzhugh replied on April 02, 2009 20:23 to the idea "Magclould needs to tell publishers who bought their mags" in MagCloud:
This discussion sounds like one of our team meetings :-). We're trying to figure out how to walk that fine line, protecting privacy rights yet enabling the publisher-reader interaction where it's desirable. It's tricky, but we think there are things we can do. We love to hear your ideas on this, so thanks!

I see height = 11.75, rather than 10.75; am I looking at the right issue?
Looking more deeply, I see the Art and Trim boxes in the PDF have been modified to 8.25x10.75, but we ignore those. We will accept these two alternatives: 8.5x11 page size, with no Bleed, or 8.25x10.75 page size with Bleed of 0.125" top and bottom, and 0.5" outside (note: outside means right for odd pages, left for even).
