What is the purpose of #5 on customize an event page: “include an optional HTML description to override the existing description”?
By checking the box, you can add any additional text, images, flash, or javascript.

As opposed to the ‘description’ box, on the ‘basic event info’, the text and any images need to be formatted with basic html tags.
For example, if you want to add a hyperlink you must format the text with tag and closing tag, an image with " tag and closing tage , and format any line breaks with
    tags.

This will now appear under the title in the left column.

What can I do with my event?
Once you’ve created an event (or multiple events) you’re wondering how to use each of the interactive tools to create the loudest buzz.. Here’s the 411 on how to use spongecell’s interactive tools to spread your word..and if you’re really good, maybe even launch a viral marketing campaign!

Under “Calendar and Events”, click onto one of your events, and scroll down below the event details to “Promote Center” (It should look like this).

There are 3 sub-sections: Messaging, Event Publishing and Calendar Publishing.

    1. Messaging:

-Send an Email about this Event: Click here, and you can send an email blast to as many people as you know; either choose spongecell’s template or create your own. In the upper right corner, easily follow the fours stages of your email: select source, compose, select recipients, review and send.(Remember: the more people on the first list, the better the chances of the event going viral!).

-Send an SMS Message: Here you can do exactly what you did to send an email blast about your event, and remember it’s going to people’s phones so keep it short, sweet, and to the point.

-Moderate User Comments: Here, you have complete control over what is posted about your event, so you can remove unwanted comments.

-View RSVP Report: You can track who is coming to the event and what they are saying, so if you leave enough time you can send email blast's as many times as you need until your RSVP list is long enough.

    2. Event Publishing

-Customize the Event Page: Get creative here, by uploading images, choose the suitable widgets, customize a color scheme, or even upload your own style sheet (CSS). You can watch your page come to life on the right, as you’re editing.

-Publish to Event Sites (Eventful, Upcoming): Want to push your events into popular event search engines? Choose Eventful and/or Upcoming (two popular event aggregators) to publish your event, so when someone searches for something to do in NYC, they know where/when to find your event.

    3. Calendar and Publishing:

This is the holy grail of building your event’s buzz. Use these interactive tools to promote your event : the calendar, the list widget, and add to myspace pages will not only publish to your site, but anyone who wants can add it to their own sites with branding intact (and if you’re lucky, spread like a disease). The result is a clear and consistently branded message carried wherever your audience runs with it.
