hi there, sorry i meant to respond to this earlier.

you give us too much credit, man. the tweetshrink "algorithm" is really just a simple word replacement program. we don't have different "levels" or anything like that. we programmed the whole thing in a day because we wanted something like it on Tweetdeck. since then a bunch of people have integrated it as is into their application. at this point, i think we've gone about as far as we're going to go with the service.

as it turns out Twitterific made their own shrinking algorithm instead of using ours. if you decide togo that route we strongly support you. also 140it.com is working on an API and they also sound kinda like what you want.

personally i like receiving notifications in my RSS better than via e-mail.

we've been chatting about this. it may be a little while before we fully formulate our plan. the original idea was to make something similar in functionality to Pownce. then we could discuss expanding functionality, capability, and design. our team hasn't come to a concensus on this, but i would really like to see it grow in a direction along this idea:

hi there, unfortunately this is not a decision that we at Tweetshrink can make. we only provide the Tweetshrink service that software developers have the option to include in their software. we had previously spoken to Atebits and influenced their decision to include Tweetshrink in their Tweetie for iPhone app, but I'm not entirely sure why they didn't include it on their Mac app. The person to ask about this is the developer from Atebits himself. We have also petitioned him, BTW, as have several people on Twitter.

Hi there, we would love to be able to help you, but unfortunately you are talking about information that is not on our server. Your Pownce export file was on the Pownce server, which we do not have access to, since it is not our server. You may be able to write to Ariel Waldman or Mark Malone at Pownce to see if they can help you, but results will be at their discretion and we cannot guarantee them. my suggestion is to try to find a sentence where it doesn't work as the barometer. if they are negligible, then we will probably add it:

"I'm going for a swim this PM, anyone wanna go?"

ambiguous, i think. are you skipping work for this? or are you going after work?i think night and PM will work though. any other Tweetshrink guys wanna weigh in on this "important" decision?

I really like 1 and 2 above. We will discuss internally to make sure that they don't lose meaning. since they are all caps, it shouldn't get confused with anyone "shouting" the word "am". i.e.:

I am going to skip church in the AM.

works for me. :)

does night work for PM? what about afternoon/evening? those are PM as well, right? might be too ambiguous.

also, i don't like #3. without the context i wouldn't read it the same way as you said it. plus, i'm just not sure that enough people would type that in to make it worth all the comparisons we would have to do on a daily basis.
